Jin couldn't sleep. He tried hugging his pillow, but it was much too small. But maybe it wasn't because it was small. His stuffed Snorlax was big and made up for its lifelessness. It was big and cuddly. But Jin much preferred holding someone. The pillow wasn't just too small, it wasn't enough overall. Jin had tried using his soft small fox toy, but it still wasn't enough. Leaving Jin awake at night, unable to do a single thing.
He was bored. He couldn't do anything. He was just sitting in the dark letting time pass. He used his Senjutsu to sense his surroundings and everyone else was sleeping peacefully. The teachers had finished their checks and were going to bed themselves. Jin was going to be alone in his waking night. But then he realised something. Someone sitting on the roof of the hotel. Jin let out a big sigh as got out of bed and stood up. Using Youjutsu symbol to make his clothing appear on him. His white loose kimono and his regular martial arts clothes. Leaving his room and the hotel overall.
Jumping onto the roof of the Kyoto Sirzechs Hotel, he looked at a small girl smiling swinging her legs. Kunou was sitting on the roof alone. Looking at the city lights. Seemingly genuinely happy she was sitting on the roof alone.
Jin: I thought you were going home.
Jin said as Kunou darted her head looking at Jin. She was too focused on the city lights to notice him. Or maybe she was just too tired to concentrate. But as she saw Jin, her smile turned even brighter as she glowed blue and turned into her fox form. Jumping at Jin.
Kunou: Jiiiiinnnnn!!!
Kunou said cheerfully as Jin caught her, holding her making sure she didn't do anything else on the roof. The demeanour she had she may have accidentally jumped off if not held. So Jin held her close as he sat down on the roof.
Jin: I'll say it again, I thought you were going home.
Kunou: I'm too excited to sleep! Today was so fun with you, Rias, Akeno and Mittelt! I'm waiting for tomorrow so I can show you more Kyoto has to offer! I... *Yawn* I have so many more places to show you guys! I don't want you guys to leave without me or find a new tour guide! They... *Yawn* They can never be as good as me!
Jin looked down at Kunou, who seemed very excited. But she was just a small girl who didn't want to go to sleep yet. Despite how tired she was, she believed she had enough energy to last the whole night. Jin could only smile softly as he kept Kunou on his lap. Gently stroking her soft fur, learning from Koneko how to gently caress an animal so they were at peace.
But now Jin was with Kunou, someone else left. Someone Jin didn't notice. Leaving with a small smile on their face. Leaving just as unnoticed.
Jin: I'm sure you will be a great tour guide tomorrow and I'm sure we will all have great fun together. But don't you think our little tour guide needs some rest to energise for tomorrow?
Kunou: I have tonnes of energy! I'm like a battery that... *Yawn* never runs out.
Kunou tried to say energetically. But Jin's gentle touch, the way he gently stroked her fur and massaged her ears. It felt really nice and soft. Peaceful. She felt more and more tired lying on Jin's lap.
Jin: That's it~. Just go to sleep~.
Kunou: B-But your... *Yawn* still awake.
Jin: And I will be when you wake up to give us all another memorable day. But you need to get some sleep and if you're not going to sleep at home. You can do so on my lap.
Kunou: I... I want to s... *Yawn* Stay up with you though. C-Cuddle and watch... *Yawn* The city lights and stars.
Jin looked down at Kunou and gave a small smile. Despite how much of an annoyance she was, he couldn't deny she was really sweet. A good kid at heart. Slowly Jin moved one of his hands into his Kimono and pulled out his small stuffed nine-tailed fox toy. One that looked a lot like his true fox form.
Jin: How about you cuddle this, and I'll hold you during the night. We can watch the city lights together until you go to sleep and I'll continue watching them for the both of us.
Jin said giving Kunou the small fox toy, she yawned looking at it, but gently took it from Jin's hands. Cuddling up next to it and looking at the city lights with Jin as she yawned. The toy was so soft. So warm. It was cared for and not only looked like Jin but smelt like him.
Kunou: I... *Yawn* I really love you Jin. *Yawn* Please... Please wait for me.
Kunou said as her eyes felt really heavy. She felt so comfortable in Jin's lap and being stroked by his strong hand. She felt warm on his lap and cuddled next to the soft nine-tailed toy. Jin didn't know why Kunou was obsessed with him. It wasn't anything like a normal child's curiosity anymore. There was something else about it. But Jin could only give a gentle smile. Looking at the city lights as he took a deep breath of the fresh air. Because of his Sacred Gear and all the late nights he had, sleep wasn't necessary anymore. Maybe for mental exhaustion, but physically he didn't need it. So he was going to stay here all night with Kunou.
Jin: If you still feel the same after all those years. I'll be sure to reciprocate your feelings.
Jin said as he looked at the glowing lights of the city and visible shrines. If she was of age and still felt the same way. If she was still as joyful as she was now. He saw no reason to deny her feelings. That's if she could hold onto them for that long. But Kunou was sure she could as she smiled feeling her heavy eyes droop.
Kunou: {I love you, big brother. Mother... mother does too.}
Kunou thought as she slowly went to sleep on Jin's lap. But even then he didn't stop gently stroking her soft fur. She was comfortable like that and so was Jin. So as he watched the city, looking at its dazzling lights. Watching it stay busy even at such late hours, he stayed on the roof. Stroking a small fox asleep, cuddling into Jin and a small fox toy.
