The late afternoon sun slanted through the studio windows, casting long shadows on the floor. Jungkook lay curled up on the couch in the BTS dorm, clutching his stomach. The viral stomach bug that had been making the rounds had claimed him as its latest victim. He'd been feeling unwell for days, but today the symptoms had reached their peak. His face was pale, and sweat beaded on his forehead as he tried to hold down a sip of water.
Jin entered the room, his eyes soft with concern. "Jungkook, how are you feeling?"
Jungkook tried to offer a weak smile but ended up grimacing instead. "I'm okay... I think."
"Okay is not good enough," Jin said firmly. "We've talked to the managers and the choreographers. You're off schedule until you're better. Rest. That's an order."
"I'll be fine," Jungkook insisted, though the fatigue in his voice betrayed him.
The members exchanged worried glances but ultimately decided to respect his wish. They were heading out to the studio for their own practice session, leaving Jungkook to recuperate.
As soon as the door clicked shut behind them, Jungkook's resolve hardened. Resting was not an option-he needed to practice. He felt an intense, almost compulsive urge to push through the discomfort. He staggered to his feet, clutching the wall for support as he made his way out of the dorm.
The studio was dimly lit, the only illumination coming from the streetlights outside and the faint glow of the practice room's neon sign. Jungkook entered the empty studio, his footsteps echoing in the silence. He approached the practice area, the floor smooth and reflective under the sparse lighting.
He started to stretch, each movement deliberate despite the gnawing nausea that wracked his body. The choreography he was working on was intricate, demanding precision and energy. Jungkook tried to focus on the routine, but his stomach churned violently. He was determined to push through, even as his body began to protest.
Halfway through the routine, he stumbled, clutching his stomach as a wave of dizziness hit him. He fought through it, determined to finish the set. His breaths were coming in ragged gasps, and his vision blurred at the edges.
Without warning, he felt a surge of sickness rising up his throat. He tried to steady himself, but it was too late. He vomited on the polished floor, the contents of his stomach splattering and pooling around him. The sharp, acrid smell filled the room, and Jungkook collapsed to his knees, gasping for breath as the world spun around him.
Meanwhile, in the practice studio next door, the performance unit of Seventeen-Hoshi, Jun, The8, and Dino-were going through their routine. Their rehearsal was interrupted by a noise from the adjoining room. Curious, they made their way over, the sounds of retching and labored breathing growing louder.
As they opened the door, the sight before them was alarming. Jungkook was on the floor, looking pale and exhausted, surrounded by the aftermath of his illness. Hoshi's eyes widened in shock.
"Is he... is he okay?" The8 asked, rushing to Jungkook's side.
"No, he's not," Jun said, kneeling beside Jungkook and placing a hand on his forehead. "He's burning up."
Dino, ever practical, pulled out his phone and dialed the number of the BTS members. "We need to get help. He's really sick."
The BTS members were still at the studio when their phones rang simultaneously. Jin answered his, his voice laced with concern as he listened to Dino's urgent explanation.
"We're coming right away," Jin said, his tone brooking no argument. He turned to the others. "We need to go. Jungkook's in trouble."
They hurried to leave and head to the practice studio, their hearts racing with worry. However the manager stopped them and said they had to complete their schedule, Jin called Dino and told him the new. With Dino promising that the members of Seventeen would look after Jungkook until they got back, the members of BTS felt slightly more at ease.
Meanwhile S.Coups, Jeonghan, and Joshua, who had arrived earlier, were already attending to Jungkook. S.Coups immediately took charge, instructing the others with practiced efficiency. "Joshua, get some water and a clean towel. Jeonghan, can you call the doctor and explain what happened?"
Jeonghan nodded and quickly made the call, while Joshua went to retrieve the items. S.Coups gently lifted Jungkook's head and placed a damp towel on his forehead.
"Jungkook, stay with us," S.Coups said softly, trying to soothe him. "We're going to take care of you."
Jungkook's eyes fluttered open weakly, and he managed a faint, apologetic smile. "I'm sorry... I just needed to practice."
"Don't apologize," Jeonghan said as he returned, cradling the phone between his shoulder and ear. "You're not well. You should be resting, not pushing yourself."
Jungkook's head lolled to one side as he struggled to stay conscious. The members from Seventeen looked on with worry.
The evening air was cool and crisp as the members of Seventeen carefully helped Jungkook out of the studio and into a waiting car. The trip back to the dorm was quiet, the atmosphere tense with anxiety.
Upon arriving, S.Coups, Jeonghan, and Joshua helped Jungkook to his comfortable bed in the BTS dorm. The room was dimly lit, the soft glow of bedside lamps providing a calm ambiance. S.Coups gently helped Jungkook lie down, while Joshua prepared some medicine and fluids.
"Try to sip on this," Joshua said, holding out a glass of electrolyte solution. "It'll help you stay hydrated."
Jungkook took a few small sips, his throat feeling sore and raw. Jeonghan sat beside him, keeping a steady hand on his shoulder. "We'll stay here until your members arrive. You need to focus on getting better."
Jungkook nodded, his eyes heavy with exhaustion. "Thank you," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
The door opened, and the rest of the BTS members hurried in, their faces etched with concern. They quickly assessed the situation, their earlier worry now replaced by a determination to ensure Jungkook's well-being.
Jin took over, sitting by Jungkook's other side and checking his temperature. "We're here now," he said soothingly. "Just focus on resting. We'll handle everything else."
The room filled with a sense of calm as the members worked together to care for Jungkook. The Seventeen performance unit and '95 liners quietly excused themselves, their concern evident but knowing they had done all they could. Hoshi gave a reassuring nod to Jungkook before they left, his expression one of relief that help had arrived.
As the night wore on, Jungkook's condition gradually improved, the immediate crisis passing as the members worked tirelessly to nurse him back to health. Jin and S.Coups took turns staying by his side, monitoring his temperature and ensuring he was comfortable.
Finally, as the first light of dawn crept through the curtains, Jungkook's fever began to subside. His breathing evened out, and he managed to stay awake for longer periods, his strength slowly returning.
Jin looked at Jungkook, a tired but relieved smile on his face. "Get some rest," he said softly. "We'll be here when you wake up."
Jungkook nodded, his eyes closing as he drifted off to sleep, knowing he was in good hands. The dedication of his members and the kindness of Seventeen's performance unit had brought him back from the brink, reminding him of the importance of rest and care even in the face of his relentless drive to succeed.
And as the members watched over him, they knew that while hard work was vital, looking out for one another was even more crucial.
