Mingyu had always loved exploring cities when Seventeen traveled for concerts. There was something freeing about wandering the streets of a foreign place, blending into the crowds, and soaking in the atmosphere without the constant weight of cameras or expectations. So when the group landed in the bustling city for their next big performance, he couldn't resist the urge to step out on his own for a bit.

After all, there were still a few hours before they had to meet at the venue, and his restless energy needed an outlet. He sent a quick text to the group chat, casually letting the members know he was heading out for a walk. Most of them were busy resting or catching up on last-minute rehearsals, so no one had any objections.

"Don't go too far, Mingyu-hyung. We need you back in one piece," Seungkwan had teased in the chat.

Mingyu smirked at the message, tucking his phone into his pocket. He knew they worried about him sometimes—his clumsy moments were legendary among the members. But today was different. He just wanted a moment to breathe, to enjoy the sights, and maybe grab some coffee from a local café.

The crisp autumn air filled his lungs as he strolled down the streets, admiring the blend of old and modern architecture. The city was alive with the sounds of traffic, distant chatter, and the occasional construction site's clanging in the background. Mingyu found comfort in the anonymity, in the fact that no one knew who he was or where he was headed.

He pulled his hoodie up, securing the cap on his head a bit tighter as he weaved through a narrow street lined with cafés and shops. The world felt expansive yet intimate, a balance he rarely found in the chaos of his usual schedule.

It wasn't until he reached a quieter area, with fewer people and more buildings under construction, that things took a sudden and unexpected turn.

The construction site had been buzzing with activity as he passed by, workers calling out to each other, cranes shifting heavy materials overhead. Mingyu barely spared it a glance, his thoughts drifting to what he might bring back for the members. But then, without warning, a deep rumble echoed from above.

Instinctively, he turned, his eyes widening as something large and heavy detached from the scaffold above him. His body froze, a split-second decision caught between running and shielding himself.

Before he could react, a deafening crash filled his ears, and pain exploded through his body as the object slammed down on him, knocking him to the ground. His world blurred, spinning violently out of control, and the last thing he registered was the distant sound of panicked shouts and the weight of unconsciousness pulling him under.

Seungkwan frowned as he glanced at his phone again. It had been over two hours since Mingyu had sent that message about going for a walk. Normally, Seungkwan wouldn't worry, but something felt off today. Maybe it was just nerves ahead of the performance, or maybe it was the fact that Mingyu hadn't responded to anyone's messages since.

"Has anyone heard from Mingyu-hyung?" Seungkwan asked aloud, pacing in their hotel suite.

Wonwoo, who had been sitting quietly on the couch with a book, glanced up at Seungkwan's concerned tone. "Not since he said he was going out. Why?"

"I don't know... I just have a weird feeling." Seungkwan's brow furrowed. "He's usually the one who sends a hundred photos of random things by now."

Wonwoo nodded slowly, setting his book aside. "You're right. He hasn't checked in."

They both exchanged a glance, worry starting to seep into the atmosphere. Seungkwan quickly opened their group chat again, typing out a message.

Seungkwan: Mingyu, where are you? You've been gone for a while now.
