The atmosphere was electric as Boy Story prepared for their concert in Tokyo. The venue was packed with eager fans, all chanting their names. Shuyang, the lead vocalist and youngest member, could feel the adrenaline coursing through him as he stood backstage, surrounded by his teammates: Hanyu, Zihao, Xinlong, Zeyu, and Mingrui.
"Are you ready for this, Shuyang?" Hanyu asked, a grin spreading across his face.
"Of course! I've been looking forward to this!" Shuyang replied, bouncing on his toes. The energy of the crowd was infectious, fueling his excitement.
As the members did a quick pre-performance huddle, Shuyang's stomach growled softly. He realized he hadn't eaten much since breakfast. In the rush of rehearsals and preparations, he'd only managed a few snacks.
"Let's grab something quick before we go on," Zihao suggested, glancing at Shuyang with concern.
"Yeah, but be quick. We can't be late!" Shuyang said, eager to join the fans who had come to see them.
They rushed to the catering area, where a variety of food awaited. Shuyang scanned the options and grabbed a small sandwich. He took a few bites, savoring the taste, unaware of the ingredients inside.
"Hey, do you think it's safe?" Zeyu asked, noticing Shuyang's choice.
"It's just a sandwich," Shuyang shrugged. "I'll be fine!"
"Just be careful; we don't want you getting sick," Mingrui chimed in, his tone light but carrying an underlying seriousness.
"I promise I'm good," Shuyang reassured them, finishing the sandwich and tossing the wrapper aside. The excitement returned as they made their way to the stage.
The lights dimmed, and the crowd erupted in cheers. Boy Story took their places on stage, hearts racing with anticipation. Shuyang felt the warmth of the stage lights and the roar of the fans envelop him.
"Are you ready, Tokyo?!" he shouted into the microphone, his voice amplified by the crowd's response.
As they launched into their first song, Shuyang poured his heart into the performance. The choreography was sharp, and the harmony between the members felt effortless. Yet, as they progressed through the set, Shuyang felt a slight discomfort in his throat.
At first, it was a minor irritation, easily overshadowed by the exhilaration of performing. He pushed it aside, focusing on the music and the energy of the crowd. But with each song, the sensation began to grow more pronounced.
By the time they reached the third song, Shuyang found himself swallowing frequently, trying to ease the tightness in his throat. He glanced at his members, who were fully immersed in the performance, and felt a pang of guilt. They were all so passionate about this concert, and he didn't want to ruin it for them or the fans.
"Keep going, Shuyang. You got this!" Xinlong shouted during a brief instrumental break, noticing Shuyang's subtle discomfort.
"Yeah, just a little sore throat," he lied, forcing a smile. The last thing he wanted was to worry them.
However, as the performance continued, Shuyang's throat felt increasingly constricted. It became harder to sing and even harder to breathe. He clenched his fists, determined to push through. This was their show, and he was not about to let anyone down.
As they began their final song, Shuyang felt a wave of panic wash over him. The discomfort had escalated to a painful tightness that made it difficult to articulate the lyrics. He could hear his own voice faltering, but he fought to maintain his composure, desperate to finish strong.
"Just a bit longer," he whispered to himself, taking deep breaths to steady his racing heart.
But as the chorus hit, Shuyang's throat began to swell. The pressure increased, and he felt lightheaded. His vision blurred momentarily, but he focused on the bright lights and the crowd, their cheers igniting his spirit.
