Jeonghan could barely contain his excitement as the SEVENTEEN members gathered around for their first-ever "Going SEVENTEEN" episode. It was a special day, marking their debut with a variety show that would showcase their personalities and camaraderie. The energy was infectious, and the anticipation for their extreme hide and seek game was palpable.
As the rules were explained and the pairs were chosen, Jun and Minghao, Joshua and DK, Mingyu and Wonwoo, Woozi and Hoshi, Seungkwan and Vernon, Jeonghan found himself paired with Dino. Jeonghan couldn't deny feeling a mix of exhilaration and anxiety. Dino's enthusiasm was endearing; he practically vibrated with eagerness. Jeonghan, on the other hand, had a secret fear that he had kept buried for years. It wasn't something he liked to talk about. It wasn't that he was ashamed; it was just that he didn't want to burden anyone with his anxieties. And so, he remained quiet, masking his trepidation with a practiced smile.
The game began with Seungcheol counting dramatically while the others scattered. Jeonghan and Dino dashed off, trying to find the perfect hiding spot. As they ran, Jeonghan could feel his heart rate picking up, not from the exertion of running, but from the looming presence of his fear. They turned a corner and stumbled upon an old, dilapidated house. Its creaky exterior and eerie ambiance made it an enticing spot for hiding.
Dino was the first to notice a small crevice beneath the house, barely big enough for two. Without a second thought, he eagerly tugged Jeonghan towards it. Jeonghan's breath hitched as he looked at the tiny space. It was a tight squeeze, barely enough room for them to fit. The idea of being confined in such a space triggered something deep within him, something he had tried to bury for years.
"Come on, Jeonghan-hyung! It'll be perfect!" Dino's voice was filled with excitement. Jeonghan looked at Dino's eager face and saw the bright spark of anticipation in his eyes. He didn't want to let Dino down or appear cowardly. So, with a deep breath, Jeonghan crawled into the crevice, trying to ignore the creeping dread that threatened to overwhelm him.
Once inside, they huddled together in the cramped space. Jeonghan tried to focus on Dino's cheerful chatter, but his mind was quickly descending into chaos. The walls seemed to close in, and the air felt heavy and suffocating. Jeonghan's chest tightened, and he struggled to breathe, but he forced himself to stay calm. He couldn't ruin this for Dino.
As the minutes ticked by, Jeonghan's discomfort grew exponentially. The space was hot and stifling, and the sound of Dino's voice, though comforting, began to feel distant. The more Jeonghan tried to control his breathing, the more the claustrophobia tightened its grip on him. Flashbacks from his childhood began to surface. He remembered being trapped in a confined space during a traumatic incident that had left a lasting imprint on his psyche.
His breathing grew shallow, and his heart raced uncontrollably. Jeonghan's hands began to shake as the memories and panic intertwined. The crevice felt like it was closing in on him, crushing him. He could feel the walls pressing against him, and the air seemed to grow thinner with each passing second. The past and present collided, and Jeonghan found himself trapped between his fear and the reality of the tight space.
Dino, noticing the sudden change in Jeonghan's demeanor, looked at him with concern. "Hyung? Are you okay?" Dino's voice was laced with worry, cutting through Jeonghan's haze of panic. Jeonghan tried to respond, but his voice came out as a strangled whisper. The flashbacks were relentless, and Jeonghan could no longer differentiate between the past and the present.
Dino's concern escalated as he saw Jeonghan's distress. "Hyung, what's wrong?" Dino asked, his voice trembling. He could feel Jeonghan's body shaking against his own. Dino's heart raced as he realized the gravity of the situation. Without hesitation, he began to gently talk Jeonghan through his panic, trying to ground him in the present.
"Hyung, look at me. Focus on my voice. You're safe, okay? We're just hiding under the house. Take deep breaths with me," Dino said, his voice soothing and steady. He placed a hand on Jeonghan's trembling shoulder, trying to provide some comfort.
Jeonghan could barely process Dino's words. The panic was all-consuming, and he was struggling to escape the grip of his memories. His breaths came in ragged gasps, and he felt as though he was suffocating. The walls of the crevice felt like they were closing in on him, and he was trapped in a nightmarish loop.
"Hyung, I need you to stay with me," Dino said urgently. "Just breathe with me. In through your nose, out through your mouth. We'll get through this together." Dino's voice was a lifeline amidst the chaos. He continued to guide Jeonghan through the breathing exercises, his own heart aching with the realization of Jeonghan's fear.
Jeonghan's breaths began to slow, though they were still uneven. Dino's calming presence and steady voice were helping, but Jeonghan was still overwhelmed by the memories and the tight space. The combination of the two was almost too much to handle.
As Dino continued to soothe Jeonghan, Seungcheol and the other members, who had been searching for them, eventually heard the muffled sounds of distress. Seungcheol's face grew concerned as he approached the dilapidated house and began calling out for Dino and Jeonghan.
Dino, hearing the calls, quickly decided to end the game. "Hyung, we need to get out of here," Dino said softly but firmly. "I'm going to get help." He carefully guided Jeonghan out of the crevice, supporting him as he struggled to regain his composure.
The other members arrived just in time to see Dino helping Jeonghan out from under the house. Seungcheol's face fell as he saw Jeonghan's pale, strained expression. "What happened?" Seungcheol asked urgently.
Dino, his voice trembling, explained, "Hyung... he's having a panic attack. I think he's claustrophobic. We need to get him some help."
The members quickly rallied around Jeonghan, providing comfort and support. They led him out of the house and into the open air. Jeonghan, though still shaken, found solace in the fresh air and the presence of his friends.
As the members helped him sit down and calm his breathing, Jeonghan felt a wave of relief mixed with embarrassment. He had always feared that his phobia would be seen as a weakness, but now, in the presence of his friends, he felt an unexpected sense of acceptance. Dino stayed by his side, his concern evident.
"Hyung, I'm so sorry," Dino said softly, his eyes filled with guilt. "I didn't know. I should have noticed sooner."
Jeonghan shook his head, managing a small, grateful smile. "It's not your fault, Dino. I should have told you. I'm just... sorry for causing such a scene."
Seungcheol and the other members gathered around, offering reassurances. "We're just glad you're okay," Seungcheol said. "We're a team, and we need to look out for each other."
The incident, though distressing, ultimately brought the members closer together. They rallied around Jeonghan, providing the support and understanding he needed. Jeonghan realized that his fear, though deeply personal and challenging, didn't have to be faced alone. He had a group of friends who were willing to stand by him through the most difficult moments.
As the episode of "Going SEVENTEEN" aired, the fans saw a different side of their idols-one of vulnerability and compassion. It was a powerful reminder that even in the world of entertainment, the strength of friendship and the courage to face one's fears were the true highlights of their journey together.
