The sky had been clear that morning, sunlight filtering through the trees as Xdinary Heroes arrived at the outdoor festival for a special event. Jooyeon, the Bassist, Main Vocalist, and Maknae, was in high spirits, ready to perform alongside his members for their fans. The weather, however, had other plans. By midday, the once clear sky turned ominous, thick clouds rolling in, signaling the impending storm.

"We should head inside," Gunil, the leader and drummer, had suggested, eyeing the darkening sky with concern.

But the event organizers assured them it would pass quickly. So, the band stayed, continuing to rehearse for the fans gathering in the park. Unfortunately, the storm did not pass as quickly as predicted. Just as they were finishing up a song, the heavens opened, pouring down a torrent of rain.

Jooyeon, caught in the middle of packing up his gear, was drenched in seconds. His hair stuck to his forehead, and his clothes clung to his body, cold and soaked. The rain didn't seem to bother him at first—he even laughed, trying to shake the water from his hair.

"Man, talk about bad luck!" Jungsu, the keyboardist, shouted over the sound of the rain, a smile tugging at his lips despite the situation.

"Yeah, no kidding," Jooyeon replied, grinning back. He didn't mind the rain. It was just water, after all. But as the minutes ticked by and the cold seeped into his bones, the weight of his wet clothes starting to drag him down, he realized this might have been a mistake.

They eventually made it back to the van, soaked but in high spirits. The excitement from the day had been worth it, or so Jooyeon thought.

The next morning, Jooyeon woke up with a scratchy throat. He barely registered it, thinking it was just fatigue from the long day before. His body felt heavy, but they had rehearsals scheduled, and he couldn't afford to miss them. With a yawn, he pulled himself out of bed, ignoring the slight ache in his muscles.

When he arrived at the practice room, Gunil gave him a curious look. "You alright? You look a little tired."

Jooyeon waved him off. "I'm fine, hyung. Just didn't sleep well."

Jun Han, the quiet guitarist, raised an eyebrow but said nothing, tuning his guitar as they prepared for rehearsal.

The practice started off fine. Jooyeon's fingers danced across his bass, and his voice blended effortlessly with the other members during the vocal parts. But as the hours dragged on, the heaviness in his limbs worsened. His throat was getting scratchier, and every time he breathed in, it felt like a fire was burning in his chest. He coughed a few times, trying to clear the discomfort, but it didn't help.

"Need a break, Jooyeon?" O.de, their sub-vocalist and synthesizer, asked, noticing the slight wheeze in Jooyeon's breath.

Jooyeon shook his head. "I'm good."

But he wasn't. As the day wore on, his energy drained faster than usual, and his head started to throb. By the end of the rehearsal, he could barely keep up, his fingers fumbling on the bass, missing notes he usually played with ease. The frustration built in his chest, but he pushed it aside.

They had more rehearsals tomorrow, and he couldn't afford to be a burden.

Jooyeon woke up the next day feeling like he'd been hit by a truck. His entire body ached, his throat was raw, and a deep, hacking cough had settled into his chest. He groaned, pulling the covers over his head, but it did nothing to block out the pounding headache that seemed to radiate through his skull.

He knew he was sick. But he also knew they had a tight schedule, and he couldn't just skip out. Xdinary Heroes had been working hard for their comeback, and he didn't want to be the reason they fell behind.
