The sun cast long shadows across the ENHYPEN dorm, a stark contrast to the usual bustling energy that filled the space. Laughter, music, and the sound of practice had been replaced by a heavy silence that clung to the air. It had been weeks since Sunghoon had last been seen in public, and the absence of his bright smile left an emptiness that each member felt acutely.
Heeseung sat on the couch, scrolling through social media feeds that seemed to overflow with speculation and concern from fans. Every post echoed the same question: Where is Sunghoon? The hashtags trended daily, but each time Heeseung searched for updates, all he found were theories and unsubstantiated rumors. His heart ached with worry, and he couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong.
"Hyung, do you think he's okay?" Niki's voice broke through the silence, his eyes wide with concern. The maknae had been unusually quiet, a reflection of the uncertainty that surrounded them.
Heeseung sighed, leaning back against the couch. "I don't know, Niki. I wish I did. We've tried calling and texting, but... nothing. It's like he just vanished."
Jay, sitting nearby, ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "He wouldn't just leave us hanging like this. Something must be going on. Maybe we should go visit him."
"Yeah, but where would we even start?" Sunoo chimed in, his brows knitted together. "He's been so distant lately. I don't think he wants to talk to anyone."
Jake, who had been quiet, finally spoke up, his voice low. "We can't give up on him. He's our member, and we have to support him, no matter what."
The room fell into a contemplative silence again. Each member's thoughts drifted to the last time they had seen Sunghoon—his laughter, his kindness, his teasing, the way he always seemed to lighten the mood. But now, all they had were unanswered questions.
Days turned into weeks, and the unease only grew. Sunghoon's absence weighed heavily on their hearts, and despite their best efforts to keep morale high, it was clear that something was missing.
Finally, one afternoon, the door to the dorm swung open, and in stepped Sunghoon. His presence felt like a distant memory, one that had been replaced by an overwhelming void. The members looked up in shock, their expressions a mix of relief and disbelief.
"Sunghoon-hyung!" Sunoo exclaimed, rushing forward to envelop him in a tight hug. The others followed suit, wrapping him in a protective cocoon of warmth.
"I missed you guys," Sunghoon said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
As the members pulled away, they took in the sight of him. Sunghoon looked different—paler, more fragile. There were shadows under his eyes, and his usually vibrant demeanor seemed dulled. He forced a smile, but it didn't quite reach his eyes.
"Where have you been?" Heeseung asked, his voice filled with concern. "We were so worried."
Sunghoon hesitated, the weight of his experiences pressing down on him. "I... I needed some time away. Things got a bit overwhelming."
"Overwhelming?" Jay echoed, his brows furrowing. "We thought something happened. You could have at least told us you were okay!"
"I know, I'm sorry," Sunghoon replied, his voice trembling. "I didn't want to worry you guys more than I already was."
"Worry us? You disappearing like that only made it worse!" Jungwon interjected, frustration lacing his tone. "What's really going on?"
Taking a deep breath, Sunghoon steeled himself. "I was diagnosed with a chronic condition... a serious one. I had to undergo months of treatment far from home. I didn't want to tell anyone because I didn't want to burden you."
