The dorm was buzzing with its usual energy as The Boyz wrapped up another long day of schedules. Ju Haknyeon, the lead dancer and sub-vocalist, collapsed onto the couch, groaning dramatically. His muscles ached from rehearsals, and his mind was cluttered from interviews, photoshoots, and the constant pressure of being "on" in front of the camera. The other members—Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Sunwoo, and Eric—filtered into the living room, chatting and joking as they began winding down.
Sangyeon, the leader, gave Haknyeon a gentle nudge. "You okay, Hak?"
Haknyeon grinned despite his exhaustion. "Just tired. These back-to-back schedules are killing me."
"You're telling me," Juyeon muttered, stretching his arms above his head. "We need a break."
Kevin plopped down beside Haknyeon, handing him a bottle of water. "Drink up, at least. You look like you're about to pass out."
"I might," Haknyeon chuckled, but there was a heavy truth in his words. The constant work had been weighing on him lately, more than usual. But instead of voicing his concerns, he buried them deep. He didn't want to worry the others or seem like he couldn't handle the pressure.
After a quick dinner, the members began retreating to their rooms. Haknyeon trudged to his shared room with Younghoon and collapsed onto his bed. Sleep came easily, his body too exhausted to fight it, and soon the dorm was quiet, save for the occasional shuffling of feet as members moved between rooms.
It started a few days later, small and harmless.
Hyunjae had been the first to notice. He was heading to the kitchen for a late-night snack when he saw Haknyeon, eyes half-closed, wandering down the hall. At first, Hyunjae thought nothing of it. Maybe Haknyeon was just thirsty, but when Hyunjae greeted him, Haknyeon didn't respond. Instead, he mumbled something incoherent—something that sounded suspiciously like rap lyrics—and shuffled back to his room.
Hyunjae scratched his head in confusion but shrugged it off. "Weird," he mumbled to himself before grabbing a snack and heading back to bed.
The next morning, Hyunjae mentioned the incident to the other members at breakfast. "So, uh, Haknyeon, did you know you were sleepwalking last night?"
Haknyeon looked up, startled. "Sleepwalking? Me?"
"Yeah, you were mumbling something about... rapping? I don't know, man. You were out of it."
The other members laughed, and Haknyeon blushed, feeling slightly embarrassed. "I've never sleepwalked before."
"Maybe you're just that tired," Sunwoo teased, grinning. "You're even practicing in your sleep."
"I think you need to chill a little," Q added. "You've been pushing yourself too hard lately."
"I'm fine," Haknyeon insisted, brushing off their concerns. "It was probably a one-time thing."
But it wasn't.
A week passed, and Haknyeon's sleepwalking became a regular occurrence. At first, the members found it amusing. Haknyeon would wander around the dorm, muttering random lyrics or choreography cues. One night, Jacob caught him in the kitchen, aimlessly rearranging the snack cupboard, his eyes closed but his movements eerily precise.
"Okay, this is getting a little creepy," Jacob said the next morning, recounting the story to the group.
"It's kind of funny, though," Eric said, laughing. "He's a perfectionist, even in his sleep."
Haknyeon groaned, covering his face with his hands. "Please tell me I didn't do anything too embarrassing."
"Not yet," Kevin said with a teasing smile. "But we're keeping an eye on you."
