The early morning sun streamed through the windows of the dorm, illuminating the faces of P1Harmony's members as they stirred awake. It was the start of a busy promotional week, with interviews, fan meetings, and performances lined up back-to-back. Jiung stretched and yawned, feeling a familiar tingle at the back of his throat, but he brushed it off. It was probably just a dry throat from the air conditioning.
"Morning, Jiung-hyung!" shouted Intak, bouncing into the living room, his energy infectious. "Ready for a big day?"
"Yeah, sure," Jiung replied, forcing a smile as he grabbed his phone to check the schedule. They had a packed day ahead, with a photoshoot in the morning followed by interviews and a live performance in the evening. He knew he had to keep his spirits high for the fans, and for his team.
As they gathered for breakfast, the mood was light. They joked and laughed, and Jiung tried to join in, but every laugh sent a shiver down his spine. He felt colder than usual, and the ache in his throat grew stronger. He needed to shake it off; he couldn't let the others see him falter. He was determined to show his strength, just like always.
The photoshoot went smoothly, and Jiung managed to hold it together, but as the day wore on, he began to feel the strain. His body felt heavy, and he was growing increasingly aware of the persistent tickle in his throat. During one of the interviews, when it was his turn to speak, his voice came out raspier than he intended.
"Jiung-hyung, are you okay?" Soul asked, concern flashing across his face.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Jiung reassured him, forcing a smile. "Just a bit tired."
As the interviews continued, Jiung's voice strained further. He could feel the other members' eyes on him, but he pushed through. He didn't want to be a burden. Each time they looked at him, he saw the silent concern etched on their faces, and it made him more determined to tough it out.
After a long day, they returned to the dorm, and Jiung collapsed onto the couch, utterly drained. The others flopped down around him, and it wasn't long before their laughter filled the room again. But Jiung just sat there, the cold settling deep into his bones.
"Want to watch a movie?" Jongseob suggested, his eyes twinkling.
"Sounds great," Jiung replied, although he felt a little lightheaded.
As the movie played, Jiung tried to focus on the screen, but his mind was elsewhere, wandering to the thoughts that nagged him—his throat felt like sandpaper, and each swallow was a battle. He wondered if he should say something, but the thought of slowing them down made his heart sink.
The next morning, Jiung woke up feeling worse. He could barely breathe through his nose, and his throat was on fire. The others were bustling about, preparing for another day packed with activities.
"Hey, Jiung! You good?" Theo asked, poking his head into Jiung's room.
"Yeah, just... a little tired," Jiung lied, forcing himself to sit up. He could see the worry in Heeseung's eyes but brushed it off. "I'll be fine."
They headed out for another day of promotions, and Jiung fought to keep his spirits up, but he felt his energy draining. At the soundcheck for their live performance that evening, he noticed how his voice cracked during warm-ups.
"Hyung, are you sure you're okay?" Intak asked, clearly concerned as he noticed Jiung struggling.
"I'm fine! Let's just get this rehearsal done," Jiung insisted, trying to sound more confident than he felt.
As they practiced their choreography, Jiung pushed himself to keep up, but every move felt like a chore. He was aware of how his singing was faltering, but he couldn't let them down. They were counting on him, and he was determined to show them he could handle it.
