The air buzzed with excitement as Jeongwoo stood behind the signing table, glancing at the queues of fans waiting for their turn to meet him. Dressed in a vibrant sweater, he felt the familiar rush of joy and adrenaline. Fan signing events always brought a special kind of energy, one that ignited his passion for performing and connecting with those who supported TREASURE.
He waved at the fans, and their cheers filled the room, a wave of warmth that enveloped him. Each shout of his name resonated deep within him, reminding him why he loved this life. He watched as fans approached with gifts, letters, and eager smiles, ready to share a moment with him.
"Are you ready, guys?" their manager asked, giving him an encouraging nod.
"Always!" TREASURE replied, determination shining in their eyes.
As the first fan stepped forward, Jeongwoo prepared himself to bring joy. He had been practicing his responses and greetings in front of the mirror, wanting each interaction to be special. The fan, a young girl, was trembling with excitement. He extended his hand for a high-five, and she beamed brightly.
But in an instant, the atmosphere shifted.
With an enthusiastic jump, the fan lunged forward to high-five Jeongwoo. At the same time, another fan nearby stumbled, knocking over a display of merchandise. Time seemed to slow as Jeongwoo turned, instinctively trying to dodge the falling display. He twisted his body, attempting to avoid the impact, but his ankle buckled under the sudden shift.
The crash echoed in the room, drawing gasps from those nearby. Jeongwoo felt a sharp, searing pain radiate from his foot as he struggled to maintain his balance. The display fell harmlessly to the ground, but as he regained his footing, he couldn't help but grimace.
"Jeongwoo, are you good?" came the voice of his leader, where he just smiled and waved off the worried faces of his members.
"Are you okay?" the girl asked, eyes wide with worry.
"Yeah! I'm fine!" he said, forcing a bright smile despite the pain that shot through his ankle. He waved his hand reassuringly. "Let's just focus on having fun!"
Despite his assurances, a small voice in his head warned him that he might have overdone it this time. As the fan rushed away, he took a deep breath, trying to shake off the discomfort.
The event continued smoothly, but with each passing minute, Jeongwoo could feel the pain intensifying. He tried to walk normally, but the slight limp that developed made it harder to maintain his facade. He smiled and laughed with each fan, engaging in conversation, but the sharp pain radiated from his twisted ankle with every step.
"Jeongwoo, you're amazing!" one fan exclaimed, handing him a gift. He reached out with a smile, though inside, he was fighting against the discomfort.
"Thank you! This means a lot to me!" he replied, internally cringing as he shifted his weight to avoid putting pressure on his injured ankle.
As the day wore on, the pain became harder to ignore. Each step sent jolts of discomfort through him, but he brushed it off, convincing himself that he needed to be strong and not let anyone down.
"Are you tired, Jeongwoo?" Jihoon asked during a break, noticing his friend's demeanor.
"I'm just a bit worn out from the event," Jeongwoo replied, dismissing the concern. "It's nothing to worry about!"
The other members nodded, seemingly satisfied, but Jeongwoo could see the flicker of doubt in their eyes.
As the event finally came to a close, Jeongwoo felt relief wash over him. He managed to smile through the pain, but as they packed up, he couldn't help but notice how exhausted he felt. The members chatted animatedly around him, but he drifted into his thoughts.
