Seongmo had always prided himself on being the dependable one. Whether it was helping his members learn a difficult rap verse, staying late at practice to fine-tune their choreography, or listening to their worries during the stressful trainee days, he had always been there. He didn't mind sacrificing his own comfort to make sure his team, 82MAJOR, was at their best. To him, that was what being part of a team meant—putting others first.

But lately, something was off.

It started as a mild ringing in his ears after long nights in the practice room. At first, he chalked it up to fatigue. Between rehearsals, performances, and recording sessions, his body was running on fumes, and a little ringing seemed like a small price to pay for the work they were doing. They had a big performance coming up, and Seongmo was determined to make sure everything was perfect. After all, as the main rapper, his verses were crucial to their stage presence. He couldn't afford to slack off.

One night, after another grueling late practice session, the ringing got louder. Seongmo winced as he pressed the heel of his palm against his ear, trying to dull the noise. It was like a high-pitched whistle, the kind that made his head throb. Still, he didn't say anything. The other members—Seongil, Yechan, Seongbin, Seokjoon, and Dogyun—were equally tired, and he didn't want to add to their burden.

"Hey, you okay?" Seokjoon asked as they packed up their things for the night.

Seongmo forced a smile, nodding. "Yeah, just a bit tired."

Seokjoon eyed him for a moment but let it slide, probably assuming it was nothing serious. And for a while, Seongmo convinced himself it wasn't. But over the next few days, the ringing didn't go away. In fact, it got worse. The sound grew sharper, more insistent, until there were moments when he could barely hear anything else.

During practice, he found himself relying more on watching the others than listening to the music. He focused on Seongil's movements, using them as cues to keep in time with the choreography. Seongmo was no stranger to being adaptable, but this was different. It wasn't just the physical exhaustion anymore—his hearing was slipping, and fast.

One evening, as they rehearsed their latest track, the ringing in Seongmo's ears suddenly intensified, morphing into a deafening buzz. His vision blurred momentarily, and he stumbled out of sync with the others.

"Seongmo, you okay?" Yechan asked, concerned.

Seongmo blinked hard, trying to steady himself. "Yeah, I just missed a step. I'm good."

But he wasn't good. The panic was starting to creep in, but he refused to show it. He couldn't afford to be sidelined. He couldn't afford to lose his place in 82MAJOR. His lips twitched into a tight smile, hoping to put his members at ease. But as they resumed practice, Seongmo found himself struggling to keep up. He couldn't hear the beat properly anymore, and it was terrifying.

Over the next few days, the ringing became constant. Seongmo would wake up with it, and it followed him into every practice, every recording session, every conversation. He began relying more heavily on lip reading and guessing, praying no one would notice his growing struggles.

But they did.

"Seongmo-hyung, you've been off lately," Seongbin pointed out during one of their breaks. The younger member looked at him with a mix of confusion and concern. "Are you sure everything's okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," Seongmo lied, shrugging. "Just a bit tired, that's all."

But Seongbin wasn't convinced, and neither were the others. Seongmo could feel their eyes on him more often, watching for any signs of weakness. But he kept brushing them off, refusing to admit that something was wrong.
