The crowd swarmed around me, but they weren't looking for my autograph. They were angry. "We don't want one of you representing our city!" an otter yelled. "You think a scruffy little timber wolf like yourself is going to win us the Biome Cup?" an antelope shouted. "Just go home!" a cougar snarled. "You don't belong here, you belong in a cage!" the torrent of verbal abuse continued as I pushed through the crowd, back to the apartment that I shared with my girlfriend and teammate Tobin Heath, a grey wolf. I pulled out my suitcase and started packing, making sure to leave my uniform out, then took all of it to the Zootopia Soccer Federation building. I walked up to where the team was meeting, and handed my uniform to Abby Wambach, our captain. "What's this?" she asked. "My uniform." I said. "I'm turning it in. I'm going home." "You're resigning?!" Tobin asked. "Why?! People love you! We need you!" "No one wants me here!" I said. "They keep telling me that. I can't stay here. It was an honor playing with you guys. I'll miss you." and with that, I walked out the door and to the train station. I got onto the train that went to Huntsville, my home. My ears and tail drooped. This was the opposite of how I'd entered Zootopia. I'd entered with my head held high, ready for anything. Now I was defeated. Nothing but an empty shell. I got off the train and went to my family's house. I knocked on the door, and my mother answered it. "Thalia!" she said. "What are you doing here?!" "I resigned, mom." I said. "They didn't want me there. No one wanted a timber wolf representing the city. I'm done with soccer." I pushed past her and walked up to my room. I shoved my soccer gear in the darkest corner of my closet and flopped down on the bed. For weeks I wouldn't leave my room, preferring to play video games and cry my eyes out. Then the package arrived.
Third Person P.O.V.
Thalia's departure had hit Tobin hard. She reacted with shock first, then she fell into a deep depression. One day, as the team was sitting in their lounge, trying to comfort her, there was a knock on the door. "Come in!" Abby called, and in walked Gazelle. "Hi." she said. "I'm looking for Thalia Skywalker." Abby sighed. "You won't find her here." she said. "She resigned. People were saying that they didn't want a timber wolf representing the city." "That's stupid!" Gazelle said, stomping a hoof on the wooden floor. "She was the best shot we had at winning the Biome Cup!" "I know." Abby said. "But she's gone now. We'll just have to give up." "No." Gazelle said. "I have an idea."
Thalia's P.O.V.
Three weeks after i'd left Zootopia, my mom knocked on my door. "Thalia?" she said. "A package came for you." she opened the door and gave me a box wrapped in brown paper. I took it and closed the door. I sat looking at the box for a good long time, then I slowly reached out and opened it. It contained a DVD, a book, and my uniform. I opened the book, and found that it was full of pictures of my best moments with the team, both on and off the field. I put the DVD in and pressed play. An image of Gazelle popped up on the screen. "Hey, Thalia." she said. "I know you're going through some tough times, but I want you to keep your head up. I've gone through this before. Those people who are saying they don't want you? They're jealous. They don't have your talent, and they know they never will, so they're trying to make you feel bad. The rest of the city, myself included, loves you. You're going to bring us the Biome Cup, so you'd better get your tail back here. Love you!" I rolled my eyes. Of course they got Gazelle to read something to try and get me back. The image of Gazelle was replaced by an image of Abby. "Hey, kid." she said. "Now, I know what you're thinking, and no, we didn't pay Gazelle to say something to you. This whole thing was her idea. What she said was absolutely right. We need you. We all miss you, especially Tobin. We're counting on you to help us win the Biome Cup, so I'm gonna need you to get back here as soon as possible, okay? Love you!" one by one the team appeared and said something. The last one was Tobin. She had tears in her eyes, and the tuft of fur that flopped over her face was tangled and matted, like she didn't care enough to brush it. "Thalia." she said. "Thalia, my beautiful, talented, smart, brave girlfriend. Please come back. You have no idea how much I need you. I miss you more than anything. There's a huge void in my heart that only you can fill. I know that there are the haters and naysayers that are gonna try and take you down, but whatever happens to you, I swear to god I'm gonna help you through it. Just please come back. You always have a spot on this team no matter what happens. I love you so much. Please, baby. Please." hot tears ran down my face. They needed me. I grabbed my suitcase, dug my gear out of the dark recesses of my closet, and ran to the train station. I texted Abby to take the team to the station, and to make sure Tobin was at the front of the group. As the train pulled into the Zootopia station, I saw the team. Tobin was in the front, ears and tail drooping, looking at the ground. I leapt off the train, and Ashlyn Harris elbowed Tobin in the ribs. She looked up, saw me, and gasped. She ran towards me, and hugged me tight, almost as tight as I was hugging her. We were both crying again. "Please don't ever do that again." she said. "Never." I promised.
