Tobin and I were sitting on the bed, reading on our phones. Kenobi was at the vet getting fixed, and everything was silent. Suddenly, we heard a loud crash from downstairs. "Tobin, what was that?" I asked, my voice shaking. "I don't know, baby girl." Tobin said, and I could tell that she was trying to sound brave for my sake. "But let's not go check it out." we could hear something moving downstairs. "Get in the closet." Tobin said. We went into the closet and squished into the small space between the cubbyholes containing our clothes and the wall. I was sitting on Tobin's lap. We could still hear the thing moving around downstairs, but then we heard it begin to walk up the stairs. Tobin put one hand over my mouth, and wrapped her other arm securely around my waist. The footsteps came into the room and stopped outside the closet door. We heard it growling, but it didn't sound like any animal I'd ever heard. Then it started speaking. It sounded like multiple voices talking at once in a strange language that I'd never heard before. I looked up at Tobin. Her eyes were closed and her mouth was moving silently. She was praying. "Come out..." He/she/it said. Tobin's grip around my waist tightened. He/she/it scratched the door. At this point, I was trembling in Tobin's arms and trying not to piss myself. "I know you're in there." He/she/it said. "I can smell your fear." I was now getting the feeling that I really had to pee, but I wasn't about to go out. "Come out..." He/she/it said. "I know you're in there... I can smell you... I'll make it quick, I promise... it's been so long since I've had fresh blood..." Tobin leaned forward and kissed my cheek. I suddenly had an idea. I pulled out my phone and texted Abby.

Tobin and I are trapped in a closet with something potentially demonic outside. Please call the cops and have them bring an exorcist. ~Thalia

Got it. Hang in there, Squirt. ~Abby

I showed Tobin the messages, and she gave me a thumbs up.

The cops are on their way. I'm with them. They've got two exorcists. We're about a minute away. ~Abby

Ok. Thanks. ~Thalia.

a minute later, we heard the door open. Footsteps came up the stairs, and the exorcism chants started. A few minutes later, there was a bloodcurdling scream from He/she/it as the thing was banished back to hell, where it belonged. I unlocked the door and collapsed, trembling, into Abby's arms. Abby set me back on my feet, and I made a beeline for the bathroom. When I came out, the police and the exorcists were gone, and Abby and Tobin had apparently gone downstairs. I walked down, and found Tobin in the living room, and Abby in the kitchen making brownies. "Hey, Squirt." Abby said. "Thought you and Tobs would need these. that thing must've scared the bejesus out of you." I nodded. "Did you see what it was?" I asked. Abby nodded, and showed me a picture on her phone. It was a skeletal dog the size of a pony, with glowing red eyes and fangs six inches long. "You and Tobin were smart not to try and confront it." she said. "Confront what?" Tobin asked, coming up behind me. "The He/she/it." I said. Tobin nodded and wrapped her arms around me. "Thanks, Abby." she said. Abby smiled. "No problem." she said.
