"Tobin, I dare you to go into Ravenwood for twenty minutes." Hope said. Hope, Carli, Abby, and I were all at Hope's house at the edge of Ravenwood. The forest was always dark and quiet. It was an eerie place. "Are you kidding?!" I asked. "No one's gone in there and come out alive! There are vampires in there!" Hope shrugged. "It's either that, or strip in front of us." she said. I sighed. "Fine." I said. "I'll go in." we all went to the edge of the woods. I set my phone's timer to twenty minutes, took a deep breath, and walked into the woods. As I walked through the trees, I felt as if I were being watched. "Ah, a human." a girl's voice said. I froze, clutching my cross necklace. A small girl stepped out from behind a tree. She had pale skin, bright green eyes, and jet black hair with red streaks. She looked otherworldly and beautiful. "You're either really brave or really stupid." "You-you're a vampire!" I stammered. "Right on the money." the girl said. She grinned, revealing pointed canines. I took off my necklace, holding the golden cross high in the air. "In the holy name of Christ, I repel you!" I yelled. The girl just laughed. "That doesn't work on us." she said. "It's just a myth that the cross will repel us. We're not unholy, we're just...different." "Are you going to suck my blood?" I asked. The girl's hand brushed my neck. "Hmmmm, I don't think so." she said. "I'm Thalia Skywalker, by the way." "Tobin Heath." I said. My timer went off. "I gotta go." I said. "Let me lead you out." Thalia said. "You'll never make it on your own. You'll get lost." she led me to the edge of the trees, touched her brow in salute to me, and disappeared. I walked out of the woods to where Abby, Carli, and Hope were waiting. "Tobin!" Abby said. "You're alive!" "What's that on your neck?" Carli asked. "There's something on my neck?" I asked. Carli took a picture on her phone and showed it to me. On my neck, where Thalia had touched me, was the letter "T" (Pictured above). "I met a vampire in the woods." I said. "She touched me there." "That means you're her blood slave now." Hope said. "She's saving you for later." we walk back to Hope's house, and went to sleep. The next day, I couldn't stop thinking about Thalia. She was just so beautiful. Yeah, I was in love with her. That night, I went back into the forest. I opened my mouth to call Thalia's name, but a hand clapped over my mouth before I could make a sound. "Shhh!" Thalia hissed behind me. She dragged me into a small cave, and we both sat down. "You have to be careful!" Thalia scolded. "I let you go, but the other vampires in here won't be so lenient!" "My friends told me that since you left that mark on my neck, I'm your blood slave." I said. "Is that true?" "Not necessarily." Thalia said slowly. "If we vampires see someone we like, and we want to be able to find them again, we'll mark them." "Is there any way I can come here and not get attacked?" I asked. "You can become one of us." Thalia said. I nodded, and she leaned towards my neck, but then suddenly jerked back. "We've got to get you out of here!" she hissed, dragging me out of the forest. "Why didn't you tell me?!" she asked when we were out of the trees. "Tell you what?" I asked, confused. "That you were a werewolf!" Thalia said. "I'm a werewolf?" I asked, even more confused. "Yes!" Thalia said. "And werewolves and vampires are sworn enemies! If they find you here, they'll kill you!" "Why don't you kill me, then?" I asked. "Because I love you." Thalia said. "I love you too, Thalia." I said. We kissed briefly. "We'll have to meet in secret." Thalia said. "Now go!" I ran off. For the next few weeks, we met in secret. Then, one night, disaster struck. Another vampire caught us. He attacked me, but Thalia threw herself between me and him. "I always knew you were odd, Skywalker!" the vampire said triumphantly. "Now it turns out you're a traitor!" he clapped his hands, and chains wrapped around Thalia's wrists. Thalia cried out in pain, the skin under the chains beginning to blister. "Come with us, wolf." the vampire hissed at me. I did as I was told, walking next to Thalia as we followed him deeper into the forest. "What's up with your wrists?" I asked. "Iron." Thalia whimpered. "The chains are iron, and iron burns vampires." we were taken to a clearing filled with vampires. The one who'd captured us took us before the king. "She was with a werewolf, highness." he said triumphantly. "Thalia Skywalker, you know that being with a werewolf is punishable by death, do you not?" the king asked. Thalia hung her head. "I do, your majesty." she said sadly. "No!" I cried. "You can't kill her! Kill me instead!" "Silence, wolf!" our captor snarled, backhanding me across the face. "However, because of your age, I will not kill you." the king said. "Thalia Galadriel Skywalker, I hereby banish you from these woods. If any one of us is to catch you here again, they have permission to kill you." "I understand, your majesty." Thalia said. The king released Thalia from her chains, and the crowd of vampires parted to let us pass. I had my arms around Thalia's shoulders, shielding her. When we were out of the woods, I led her to a different forest, to a small cave where I'd made my home. I kissed Thalia gently. "It's alright, baby girl." i said. "We can be together here." Thalia snuggled into my side. "I love you, Tobin." she said. "I love you too, baby girl." I said.
