Draco's POV:

Thunder rumbles in the distance and y/n is dosing off peacefully on my shoulder.  War is coming.  We both know it so we're trying to maximise our time together before we both have to fight for our lives.  Y/n shivers and stirs under my arm and flutters her eyes open gently.

"Hi, love," she whispers into my chest.  I smile down at my girlfriend.  It's moment like these I treasure with her.  The moments when it's just us together and no one else can tear us apart.  I tilt my head down so my forehead touches hers and she nuzzles into my embrace, giggling softly as she does so.  She has her hair down and it's draped across her shoulders and the couch.  She's absolutely beautiful.  I try to stare off into space to think a bit without y/n noticing, but she does.  "What's going on, Draco?"

"Oh, just contemplating things...  You know, y/n...," I reply.

"Come on, Draco.  That look suggests that you're thinking about more than just 'things'...  I know you.  You can tell me what you're thinking about, Draco," she says.  I sigh.

"It's a bit unhappy," I admit.

"Hit me, Draco," she says, repositioning her body so she looks me in the eye.

"I was just thinking about everything.  I know there's going to be a battle.  Tonight even.  I was just thinking about... what it would be like if I lost you...," I croak, my voice shaking a bit.   Y/n's expressions soften and she wraps her arms tightly around me.

"I'm not going anywhere, Draco.  I love you too much to leave," she says.

"But.. What if something does happen?  What will I do?  I can't live without you.  My whole life is this relationship, our relationship.  It means more than the world to me!" I cry.

"Oh, Draco...  I know this is hard...  It's difficult for me, too," she says.  "I promise though...  We'll stick together through it all.  I will never leave you."

~~~~~
The barrier is broken.  Death Eaters stream in, attacking everyone in sight.  I grasp y/n's arm tightly.
"Ready, love?" she asks.
"As ready as I'll ever be, y/n."
"Draco?" she says, her eyes sparkling.  "If we get split up at any point during the battle, when everything is over and done with and someone is declared the victor, meet me at our special place.  If one of us is not there, we know what happened to the other," she whispers, almost crying.  Just then a Death Eater lands right in front of us followed by a posse of others.    "Draco!  Promise!  Please!"
"I will, y/n!  Of course!" I yell.  The Death Eaters aim curse after curse at her and she skillfully deflect all of them.  A new Death Eater arrives.  I recognise him.  Yaxley, one of the most ruthless of Death Eaters in Voldemort's inner circle.
"Draco!  Run!" she yells as she points her wand at Yaxley as he casts a spell, too.  Their spells collide in mid-air.  "Please! Save yourself!"
"No!  I'm not leaving you!" I shout, pulling out my own wand as a giant rip down the wall in front of me.
"Draco!  Please!  For me!" she says, tears in her eyes.  I finally nod.
"Anything for you, y/n!" I shout as I start to run through the mayhem.
~~~~~

Everything is over.  Voldemort is dead.  Potter killed him.  People are dead and Hogwarts is in ruins.  I stumble through the rubble, heading towards the tree on the outskirts Hogsmeade.  The ree where y/n and I carved our names into the trunk two years ago.  After a long walk, I finally arrive there.  I don't see anyone at first and I feel like I'm about to cry.  I start to frantically circle the tree but I see a girl as I round the tree's trunk.  Sitting against the tree is y/n.  Her hair, only a bit messy flows in the wind lightly.  Her face is speckled with small gashes.  Her uniform is ripped and tattered in places.  The battle must have put her through a lot.  I run to her.

"Y/n!" I yell.  She shoots up from her seated position and runs towards me.

"Draco!" she yells, throwing her arms around me.  I lift her up by the waist and spin her around, both of us happy beyond words.  I set her down and kiss her full and deep on the lips.  She returns the favour, kissing me back and matching my passion, allowing the moment to last.  We slowly part, our noses still touching.  I raise my hand up an comb it through her hair.  HEr eyes are closed.

"I thought you weren't coming...!" she gasps.

"I thought you weren't here...!" I reply.

We kiss again, desperate to feel each other's company.

"Please tell me this isn't a dream, y/n," I whisper.  She cups my cheeks with her hands gently and smiles up at me.  She pecks me on the lips and says,

"No, Draco.  This is real life.  I'm here with you and I love you, so, so much," she says.

"I'll never let you go again, y/n," I say back.

"Nor will I, Draco."
