TW: slight panic attack, suicidal needs (I guess)
Virgil was sat on the bench at the park, he was watching his friends run around and laugh, having fun. "Virgil! Come on!" his friend Patton called to him. As he stood up, he noticed some other people arriving and knew he wouldn't be able to have fun if he knew others were there watching and judging him.
He slowly sat back down, sending Patton an apologetic look. Logan excused himself from the group and went to sit with Virgil. "Are you okay?" he asked worried. Virgil just shrugged, not wanting to speak. Logan looked at him, watching him play with the strings on his hoodie anxiously. "It is okay if you do not wish to participate in Patton's antics, but just remember, you have us you can talk to if you desire." Virgil sends him a small smile, unsure as to why Logan was being so kind to him when normally they disagree.
Logan, sensing his discomfort, leaves Virgil and goes back to Patton and Roman. Virgil watches him walk away slightly annoyed with himself for being unable to speak to Logan, he was just trying to help.
Virgil casts his gaze to the ground and feels his breath shorten and heart rate increase. "Not here, not now" he thinks to himself. He pulls his knees to his chest trying to hide himself from the world. He didn't want to be here, he didn't want to be a burden.
Logan glances over at Virgil, noticing he is curled in on himself and struggling, he wants to help, but is unsure what to do. He gets Patton's attention and points to Virgil, "he is not okay, and I don't understand what I can do to help." Patton sends Logan a reassuring smile and walks over to Virgil, clearing his throats causing Virgil to look up at him.
"Hey Virg..." he sits next to the anxious male, and extends his arms hoping Virgil gets the idea and allows Patton to help.
Virgil looks over at Patton and moves slightly closer, allowing Patton to engulf him in a hug.
Shortly after, the negative feelings hadn't disappeared completely, but subsided enough for Virgil to speak and not panic any longer. "Thanks Pat" he mumbles. Patton smiles and stands up.
"Do you want to go home?" Patton asks him. Virgil nods, ready to leave.
Patton tells the other two that they are leaving and they leave together.
Later that evening, Virgil's negative feelings has risen again, this time, they were more suffocating. He had had enough, he didn't want to be here anymore, and he wanted to leave. He picked up his phone sending a text to each of his friends, explaining it wasn't their fault and he is sorry.
He leaves his house and heads out to the bridge near to their houses. It was nearing midnight, so no one was around. He looks down at the water below, seeing the way the lights reflected in it reminded him of his friend's room, with the fairy lights hung around the room when it was Christmas. His eyes start filling with tears.
The voices in his head grew louder.
"Virgil?" He heard his name being called. He didn't turn around, he didn't want anyone here now, they didn't deserve to save him, and he wasn't worth saving.
"Virgil please" the voice tried again, closer this time. "Don't do it."
He felt the person next to him. "It is not worth it, whatever is going on you don't have to choose this."
Virgil turned to Logan, tears in his eyes, "I'm sorry," the tears start to fall, "I'm sorry." Logan looks at him and pulls him into a tight hug, his own tears falling. "Please do not choose to do this, you have us, we will do anything we can for you. We do not wish for you to end your life. You mean too much to us."
Virgil steps back and looks at Logan, "I can't..."
Logan looked at him, eyes full of tears, "please, you can, do not say you cannot. I need you" his voice falters as he's looking at Virgil.
Virgil casts his gaze back to the dark water below. "I need to..." He glances at Logan, torn between jumping into the dark and allowing Logan to hold him close. "I can't live, no one... No one likes me, no one loves me..." He trails off.
Logan violently shakes his head, "falsehood" he murmurs. "I like you, so does Roman and Patton."
Virgil looks at him unsure of his sincerity. "You don't, you can't"
Logan looks at him, his eyes telling Virgil all the things he can't say. Virgil looks at the water. "Why should I stay?"
"Because you are loved, whether you see it or not, you are."
Virgil tears his gaze away from the lake, and turns to Logan, "do you... Do you love me?"
"More than you know" the whispered response came.
Virgil looked at Logan confused. "You do? Why?"
Logan nods in response and replies "because there is so much more to you than you see, you're smart, kind, you take pride in what you do, and you don't ask for much of others, you'd rather go through something alone instead of asking someone to help you."
Virgil glances at the ground before moving closer to Logan, allowing him to wrap him in a hug.
As they pulled apart, they felt the cold night breeze on their bare arms. Virgil shivers and Logan notices, "We should head home, as it is late and cold and we could get sick," Virgil nods agreeing with Logan.
Logan leads them both to his house giving Virgil the option of staying at his home to give him the care he needs, and to ensure he doesn't try to hurt himself again, because Logan cares too much and doesn't want Virgil hurting any more.
As they are lying in bed, drifting off to sleep Virgil murmurs "I love you too." Logan hums confused, and to clarify Virgil explains "on the bridge, you said you loved me. I want you to know, I love you too."
Logan smiles and pulls Virgil closer to him, muttering an "I know" with a smile.
Virgil makes a vow to himself, as he falls asleep in Logan's arms, to give his friends a chance to help him with his problems, and as long as Logan sticks around and helps him through his problems, he will never have a reason to end his life.
