Unedited Fluff
Virgil looked down at the small infinity sign on his wrist. It sat just on the joint, on the inside, he sighed softly.
He wasn't one for soulmates, and such, but he was intrigued to know who redrew the infinity sign on their skin daily.
He took his pen, and like every other day, he drew a small heart underneath.
It was something they'd done for a while.
Virgil would see the infinity mark, and he'd draw a heart. It started when Virgil got bored in class, he took his pen and doodled on his skin, and that was the first day he knew he had a soulmate. As he was drawing, he saw a mark being etched onto his skin, and at first it burned a little, but it soon died, and as he looked at his wrist, he saw a sideways eight, above the heart he'd draw moments prior. Since then, it was a daily thing, he would doodle something whenever he became anxious, and he'd be comforted by the knowledge that he had someone else.
He wasn't sure who his soulmate was, but for now, he was content.
One day, in science class, Virgil was sat next to his friend Logan, and the two more popular males, Roman and Patton, sat in front of them, Roman in front of Logan, Patton in front of Virgil.
Virgil found himself staring at the male in front of his friend, and he noticed him drawing, what appeared to be a rose. As the ink flowed across Roman's skin, Virgil felt the pain of a new drawing on his arm.
He rolled up his sleeve, and almost audibly gasped.
He took one of Logan's sticky notes and wrote: "It's Roman."
He slid it to Logan, who read it discreetly, and sent Virgil a look that meant they would discuss it later.
Lunch rolled around too slowly for Virgil's liking, he needed to talk to Logan, and he couldn't in any of his classes because they only shared science.
Virgil sat in their normal spot, outside, under the tree, and Logan walked over, his hand clasping Patton's.
"I hope it is alright that I bought Patton to sit with us."
"Yeah, it's fine, I just need to talk to you about... that thing, from science, and I don't want to be made to feel left out."
"That is okay, I will try to make sure you are included... Why do you believe it is..." Virgil's eyes widened, and Logan caught himself, "that person?"
"They were drawing on their arm and I felt it appear on my skin, and as I looked, I saw it was the same thing."
"Who is it Virgil?" Patton asked, excitedly, knowing their topic of conversation was on soulmates.
"I..." Virgil was cut off by Roman walking over to them and situating himself between Patton and Virgil.
"Him, really?" Virgil turned to Logan, fear and slight annoyance in his eyes.
"Patton invited him, I did not, although, I was not aware he would be here."
"Oopsie, sorry!" Patton grinned innocently and pressed a kiss to Logan's cheek.
The four males ate in silence, and once Roman finished eating, he took out his pen, and scrawled, in his cursive writing, "Who are you." Virgil watched him, feeling slightly guilty, but he said nothing.
He ignored the slight burn on his arm, and continued eating.
He tried to tune out Patton and Logan's intimacy, but he quickly reached his limit.
Patton and Logan would be sat with their lips together, a disgustingly gross kiss, but it was sweet and loving all the same, ot they would have their hands laced together, or make flirty comments and press kisses to one another's cheeks. It was frustrating seeing two people madly in love, when you had a love-hate relationship with the person you were crushing on, and knew they were your soulmate.
Despite that, Virgil was happy that Logan was able to find someone and be happy. They were a cute couple.
He sighed quietly, and stood up, walking away, not making any noise, nor alerting them of where he was going.
Roman watched as Virgil walked off, he sighed, he wanted to have the courage to talk to Virgil, he liked him, but he knew he had his soulmate somewhere.
Virgil sat in the bathroom, and took a deep breath, he liked Roman, there was no doubting that, so in his blocky handwriting, he wrote, "I know you want to know who I am, but you don't want me, not now. I'm not worth it."
A minute passed and he received a response, "I want to know you, I want to know if I'm wasting my time with someone or not."
"Girlfriend?"
"Boy... boyfriend."
Virgil's heart dropped in his chest, Roman had a boyfriend? Who was he kidding, of course he did. Despite the soulmate issue, some people still dated, even though they knew they may not meet their soulmate for a while.
"Oh, okay." He left it at that, he wasn't sure how to reply to finding that information out.
"It's not, like an actual boyfriend, more like one I wish was my boyfriend."
Virgil's hopes lifted slightly, but he knew Roman wouldn't want him, no one did.
He scribbled his number on his arm, not leaving a name, not leaving much information at all, he knew Roman didn't have his number, and it wasn't like anyone else would give him Virgil's number.
He pulled his sleeve down, and headed to his last class of the day.
He sat in the back, ignoring the buzzes coming from his phone, he had his headphones on and didn't noticed the dramatic male sat next to him.
He jumped when a hand was placed on his shoulder, having not noticed anyone else come in. He pushed his headphones down, and looked at the male next to him.
"It's you." He said.
"What?"
"You, you're my soulmate, you're the one."
"What? How?"
"Your writing... you're the only one I know who writes that way."
"I tried to have it different to mine."
"It was dark, and despite the boldness, there was nervousness behind it. It's you." In reality, Roman had seen Virgil's writing in his notebook, and that was how he figured it out.
"But... I... you..."
Roman smiled at the flustered male in front of him, as he sighed and blew his bangs out of his face.
"How did you know it was me?"
"I saw you doodling a rose on your arm in science, and I figured it out from there."
"I'm not disappointed. I was referring to you, when I was talking about the one I wanted to have as my boyfriend."
"But I thought... you hated me. You always..."
"I was trying to distance myself from someone that was too perfect for me, someone that I had no chance at being with." Roman maintained eye contact the entire way through his words, and Virgil felt his face heat up.
Roman leaned over a pressed a soft kiss to the anxious males lips, causing the blush to darken, using this to his advantage, he asked Virgil for a date, to which Virgil nodded to, unable to find his voice.
The rest of the day passed, ad when Virgil got home, he smiled, he never thought he'd figure out it was Roman, nor that Roman felt that way about him. He smiled and lay on his bed, trying to wrap his mind around the events of the day, occasionally sending Roman a text.
He was happy.
For once.
