This is the closest to a straight fic I will write and I'm honestly really anxious about your thoughts on this. So yeah... don't mind me, just internally screaming. And if you want more OC stuff, let me know.

Unedited (and probably contains a fair few errors) and is long. 5,800 words or so.

T.W. Abuse, rape, and anxiety. (There May he more, I don't know, this took me yours to write so I'm creatively exhausted and don't want to think.)

She sat and watched him from across the room, they'd been friends for years, but how would he feel if he knew her feelings towards him? She knew he was bi, and ace, but she didn't know if he would want a relationship. He was always so focused on school, plus he always seemed to lean more towards boys. She sighed, and wished she had the courage to tell him. He didn't know of her sexuality, yet he should, but she couldn't bring herself to tell him.

She was so deep in thought that she didn't hear the bell ring.

"Fern? Are you coming?" She snapped out of her daze, and saw her best friend stood there, his face full of worry.

"Yeah." She shoved her things into her bag and walked with him to the lunch room, where they met up with their four other friends. Two were practically sat on one another, making out, causing her to internally cringe, and the other two were talking.

She sat herself next to Virgil, who was across from Patton. Logan sat to her right, and Roman and Thomas were across from the two of them.

Logan started eating his lunch, and working on homework he'd received that morning, Patton and Virgil, after saying hello, went back to their conversation, and Roman and Thomas didn't even notice them arriving.

Fern was left to her thoughts, and was abruptly bought out of them when Roman readjusted his positioning, and looked straight at her, a concerned look on his face. Only then did she realise she'd been spoken to. Her face flushed red, and Roman repeated the question. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah. I'm fine." She muttered, pulling her hoodie sleeves over her hands, an anxious habit she had.

"Fern." He spoke, a warning tone in his voice, and she sighed, flicking her eyes to her right, glancing down slightly, knowing Roman was the only one she'd told about her... crush.

He nodded, and muttered "you have to talk to him."

She sighed and nodded, brushing it off, resting her head on the table, any thoughts she had drifted to the cool table beneath her forehead. She felt a hand run through her hair, and massage her head. She knew it was Roman instantly, no matter what he was doing prior, if she needed him, he would always be there to comfort her. It was one of the main reasons they became friends, well, that and Patton. The three had been friends since the beginning of school, and of course they'd had their ups and downs, but they were always there for each other, and they wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Logan joined them a few years later, when they started middle school. He was always smarter than everyone else, yet he dumbed down his words for them, and he helped them with their homework whenever they had trouble, and he was a good friend, and they were happy.

Thomas was the next to show up, Roman met him through the drama department the first year of High School, and he quickly became a part of the group, and a year later, his happy bubbly self, gained the position of Roman's boyfriend. They were all happy for them, they worked well together.

Virgil was the last to join, having only started at their school at the beginning of that year, he was self-deprecating, and anxious, all things Fern understood. He bickered with Roman, and bonded with Patton. Thomas and he saw eye to eye almost instantly, and Logan took a little bit more convincing, but he caved soon enough.
