Trigger warning: suicidal needs (I guess?)
Crushing on someone is a lot like setting yourself up for failure.
But paired with self-hate, just makes life worse.
Which is how Virgil found himself where he was.
Earlier that day, he was sat in the commons of the school, on a wall, his back against his friend's, they were talking whist eating and had music playing relatively quietly in the background. When his crush happened to walk over to them, paired with his friend's crush.
They stopped in front of them both, taking their attention away from the conversation and the words to fall unheard.
Roman was the first to talk, inviting them both to a small gathering he was holding, which was taking place later that evening. He ensured both he and Logan would be there, so if they felt uncomfortable, they could always go to them.
Patton spoke for the both of them, saying they would be there, and they couldn't wait.
Although he was slightly annoyed with Patton, Virgil was actually grateful that he may be able to actually talk to Logan for once.
The evening came around much too quickly for Virgil's liking. He put on a nicer pair of skinny jeans, and his purple and black hoodie, as opposed to the plain black one he wore regularly.
Patton soon knocked on his door, ready to walk to the address Roman had given him earlier.
They walked down the street, and as they got to the end of the road to where Roman lived, they could hear the music.
Virgil sent an anxious glance towards Patton, who also looked rather unsure.
They took their time in approaching the house, it was full of people from their grade and the grade below. They didn't know half of the people, which caused Virgil to become rather anxious, and his breathing became labored, which Patton noticed and told him to breathe, it would be okay.
They entered the house, and it was already too busy for Virgil's liking, so he and Patton went to the kitchen, in hopes it would be more quiet. Luckily for them, it was, but Logan and Roman were also in there, which made it almost worse for Virgil.
"I thought it was a small get together?" Patton asked Roman, who grinned upon seeing him.
"It was supposed to be, but someone went over the top. As per usual." Logan replied since it was clear Roman wasn't going to.
Roman rolled his eyes, "Loosen up Nerd, it's a party, have fun!"
Roman then went onto take Patton off somewhere, making the mistake of giving him alcohol.
Logan and Virgil stood in silence for a while, before Logan broke it by asking if Virgil wished to go outside, to which Virgil shrugged, unable to find his voice around the smarter male.
They left the kitchen and went to sit under the small gazebo at the bottom of Roman's garden, the music quieter there, so they were able to have a conversation, whilst still being able to see the sky and stars.
They sat in a comfortable silence for a while, happy to watch the world go by.
"You do not like crowds." Logan spoke, startling Virgil out of his thoughts.
He shook his head in response.
"Why do you never talk?" He asked.
Virgil turned to look at the other male, sat next to him, Logan's eyes following his every move.
