Logan was skeptical about being in a relationship, he thought he wanted it, and whenever he saw his crush, he felt a pang of jealousy. So when him and his crush began talking, and ended up in a relationship, he finally realized how he felt during one.
He'd told the other about his uncertainty about the entire thing, and they allowed him to take all the time he needed to figure things out.
When he finally agreed to the relationship, he hadn't realized how needy the other was. He didn't mind the constant hugs, kisses or anything, but he did mind that he got very little time to himself. He cared greatly for the other, but he needed time to himself. That was when things started going downhill.
One day, a month later, he arrived at school a little after the other, and was having one of those days where he just didn't want any physical contact. He met up with his boyfriend and their mutual friends, who were also in a relationship, and he kept his distance. His boyfriend reached his arms out, asking for a hug, Logan shook his head no, but both kept silent, except for the small whine that escaped his boyfriend's lips.
He looked down sadly, his boyfriend putting his headphones on, and Logan removed one earphone, allowing him to have a small conversation with his other friends.
5 minutes before the bell rang, he slipped away from his friends and went to his first class of the day. During which, he got a text from his friend, asking what had happened this morning. He explained the entire situation.
He was asked what he considered trying, after he mentioned that the other hadn't tried, and he explained that actually talking would be trying.
"Not to make you mad or anything, but doesn't that mean you didn't try?"
"I know I didn't try."
"Alright, well I'm sure you two can work this out."
Logan hoped so.
He finally got a response from his boyfriend that he had been trying to reach all morning. By the end of the 1st class, his boyfriend had begun to ignore him, so he finished by saying "Don't talk to me, until you realise it is a joint thing."
The rest of the day passed without much incidence.
The next day, he was late to school, so he went straight to his first, not bothering much about going to their usual spot.
Shortly after he arrived there, he saw his two friends go into the classroom across the hallway to him. Once they came out, they had a brief interaction. Just before they left, his boyfriend came up to him, wanting to talk, so their friends departed and left the two of them.
"Are you ready to talk?"
"No, because you ignored me, I wanted to talk yesterday, and you ignored me."
"I was feeling overwhelmed."
"And I wanted to talk, you could have said something. Anything."
He just shrugs and walks away.
During his 3rd class, he got a message, "Can we move past this and forget about it and keep moving forward?"
"No, we cannot. You know why? Because you made me feel bad because I didn't want physical contact. And then you ignore me. I cannot move past that."
"I was overwhelmed, I didn't know what to do"
"Maybe not ignore me?"
"I won't let that happen again. When we got together we both knew that something might happen again, but if we can get past this then we can make this stronger. If you don't feel the same about this relationship as I do then tell me now, bc I know I make mistakes but I will learn from them. So please tell me: do you want to make this work or not?
"I don't know. I told you at the beginning, I didn't know that this was what I wanted."
"But you said yes."
"But I said I didn't know, and you should remember that, And yes, I said yes, but it didn't mean I was 100% sure."
"Then idk."
"Then give me space to think about it, but I probably won't want it."
"Go ahead."
Logan spent the rest of the day thinking about his boyfriend. He didn't want to lose him, he couldn't lose him. He made a plan that the next day he would go to him and talk to him about how he really wanted to make it work. As long as he wasn't late to school again.
The next day rolled around, he was later to school again. He went straight to his 1st, and once he put his backpack down, he turned around to find his boyfriend stood there.
"It's not going to work."
"What?" He pulled his other earphone out and paused his music.
"I came here to tell you it won't work. I'm breaking up with you. I'm not saying anymore. But just so you know."
"Okay..."
His boyfriend walked off and he sat at his desk and felt his eyes fill with tears. He put both of his earphones back in and felt his heart break, figuratively.
He went through his first period not feeling much of anything.
During 2nd, he started messaging their mutual friends. He found out from Roman that his boyfriend broke up with him because he apparently didn't care, and Virgil told him that it wasn't fair, and he didn't appear to know anything about it.
So, he asked Roman to help him find Patton at the end of their 2nd so they could talk to him, at Virgil's suggestion.
Once 2nd ended, they went on their way to 3rd, hoping to see Patton along the way.
They found him pretty easily. Roman stopped Patton and indicated Logan wished to talk to him.
"What happened? Why?"
"Because you said you didn't really want anything and it's affecting me."
"If you had given me a chance, I was going to tell you that I wanted it, but you broke up with me, so it doesn't matter."
"Logan."
"What?"
"You want it?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
Patton pulled Logan into a hug, 'from now on we talk to each other."
"Alright."
With that they left and went their separate ways to class.
They were able to stay together for a while, they were happy, and if they ever had a problem, they would talk it out, not letting anything mess them up again.
