All Nighters Au (Moxiety)

Virgil had 3 friends.

They often spent hours online with each other, messaging back and forth, or video chatting, and often, when they were video chatting, they would be one for hours on end. Usually, finishing the call around 3am. Well, that was when 2 of them went to bed.

Virgil would often stay up with Patton. The two were close, they would talk about anything and everything, and neither having much of a filter, other than obvious profanities as Patton despises profanity.

Virgil would talk about how his anxiety and how it had given him a problem, and Patton would talk about all of the dogs he saw in the park. They could go on about any one topic for hours and hours, and when they were talking, they didn't notice the passing of time, it was like they were the only two in the world, and when the sun rose, they would feel tired and wish they hadn't stayed up all night, but when they recalled their conversations they would realise it was worth it.

They would see each other during the day, but they wouldn't get to spend much time together. Often, the four of them would end up at the park after school, just talking and working on homework together. Although, their schedules were different, they had similar classes, just in a different order, so they would have the same homework.

Not only would they spend hours in the park together, they would often then go to one of their houses, when it was too dark, and eat, then the other three would go home, and they would instantly be online messaging each other and video chatting.

They would drive their parents' nuts; they would spend hours together and then want even more time together, how they didn't run out of things to talk about baffled them.

One night, whilst the four of them were on a video chat together, Virgil proposed a challenge, to see who could stay up the latest out of their little group. Logan and Roman immediately opted out, due to Roman needing his "beauty sleep" and Logan needing a full 8 or more hours to remain fully functional the next day. Which left Virgil and Patton.

Patton was skeptical at first, he was unsure about how things would turn out, and he didn't want either of them getting too little sleep.

Virgil was quick to point out that neither of them got much sleep anyway as they were both on with each other for hours after both Logan and Roman leave the chat for the night.

Patton eventually agreed to the challenge, saying it was for the one night only. Virgil grinned, happy that he would be able to talk to Patton for a long time, and see who would fall asleep first.

After a few hours passed, both males felt themselves begin to get tired, however, both refused to let the other know. Logan and Roman were noticing their sleepiness, however, if they said anything Virgil would deny it and Patton would just shrug and not do anything about it. Both were stubborn males and neither wanted to lose.

Logan and Roman left the group chat to get some rest, both letting the others know they should probably go to bed soon.

What Logan and Roman didn't know was, that for the past 5 nights, Virgil got no sleep, and Patton got 2 hours of sleep. Which impacted their bet more than either thought possible.

Before both males knew, they had fallen asleep.

Virgil was woken up by Patton's alarms coming through the computer. Virgil shot up, not realizing he had fallen asleep, Patton woke up not long after. The two looked at each other and realized what had happened.

"2 out of 3?" Patton asked.

"I though you only wanted to do it for one night?"

"We need a rematch, last night doesn't count, we weren't supposed to fall asleep, we had too many long nights, so we need to retry."
