Virgil and Roman dated for a while, but they knew they had to break it off, but neither could shake the feelings they had for one another.
"No, there's no denying chemistry this strong
Yes, pretend it's right but we both know it's wrong"
They would see each other all the time, at parties, at the park, when out with friends, and they would always wish they were together, but when they were, it was either in the bedroom, or they were fighting.
"Thinking about the storm advancing
Thinking about the lightning dancing in your eyes
But I, can't shake these memories I bring inside
Tension builds, I think we're under-thinking part time thrills"
Whenever they were together, there was thick tension in the air, and everyone could feel it, but they couldn't stop being around each other.
"I know, I know how to drive you wild
You know, you know how to make me smile
But I need you to be my ancient history"
They both wanted to move on, badly, but neither could bring themselves to say the words, neither could bring themselves to be the one to hurt the other, but being together just hurt them both more.
"Damn, pick up the phone, I know I'm drunk again
And you, know my intentions cause it's two AM"
Whenever Roman was at a paty he would get so drunk, he wouldn't be thinking as straight as he normally would, not that he ever really thought straight to begin with, but he always called Virgil at 2AM, wanting to come over, to talk and be together with him.
"It's fun and games until we both get hurt
We play with fire cause we like the way it burns
No use in catching up a sinking ship"
They hurt each other whenever they were around each other, they knew their relationship was going down, but they still tried to keep it afloat, they wanted to keep going, but it would get worse every time they tried.
"This is the last time we do this, baby
This is the last time you taste my lips"
Virgil told Roman every time, that it was the last time, yet Roman somehow still managed to convince Virgil, just one more time.
"I know, I know how to drive you wild
You know, you know how to make me smile
But I need you to be my ancient history
I know, I know who you really are
You know, you know how to break my heart
But I need you to be my ancient history"
"It's the way you
Let me throw you cross the bed
Got you running cross my head
When I know I should be sleeping
But I can't escape
You're addicted to the last taste
Imagine that we trust
But you're begging for it, screaming for it
Here we go, now it's time to cut the cord
And abandon all support"
Virgil had had enough, it had gotten out of hand, they both needed to move on, to find someone better, yet they would always come back to each other.
Virgil went to Roman, and handed him a copy of the lyrics, and knew that was the only way to get his message across, he left before Roman could say anything, knowing if there were any words said, the meaning of the lyrics would go out of the window.
"I know, I know how to drive you wild
You know, you know how to make me smile
But I need you to be my ancient history
I know, I know who you really are
You know, you know how to break my heart
But I need you to be my ancient history"
Neither went back to the other after that, they both knew better, they still wished they were able to make it work, but neither acted upon it, and eventually, they were able to move on.
Sometimes the hardest thing is to let go of the past, but sometimes it's for the best, because although you can be addicted to someone, they can cause more harm than good, and they learned that the hard way.
