TW: Panic attack, mean comments, hate, hurt, crying.

(I don't know what people get triggered by so, just in case)

Roman and Virgil had a complicated friendship, as soon as they began to get along, one would do something that lead the other to believe they hated him.

Logan and Patton got caught in the middle of the disputes between the two traits. Patton often got hurt as he was unable to get through to Virgil when he was upset after Roman had done something that hurt him. Logan was never good at helping with feelings, but he was always able to find a logical solution and help them get along again for a short while.

Roman never hated Virgil, he just never knew how to deal with the darker trait as they were complete opposites and Virgil was very sensitive when it came to anything Roman does.

Virgil knew Roman couldn't hate him, but was never 100% sure.

He knew that whenever he and Princey had one of their disagreements, it was never anything serious, it just happened and neither trait knew how to stop it.

Patton knew they needed to stop as it was getting unhealthy but he couldn't do anything to stop it, he didn't know what to do, he was struggling.

One day, the four of them were playing monopoly, when Roman and Virgil started disagreeing. It started out with a "No, you can't do that" and escalated from there.

Virgil sighed and looked at the prince-like trait, "Roman..."

"I don't want to hear it Virgil, you're just salty because you're losing"

"No I am not, I'm trying to make this a fair game"

"Since when have you been fair, you just drag everyone down, you're all mopey dopey and don't do anything remotely useful." Virgil's eyes widened as he looked away from the royal trait.

"Fine, if that's how you see me" He felt his eyes well up with tears and runs off to his room shutting the door behind him.

"Roman..." Patton started.

Roman looked at the fatherly trait and stood up, "I'll try but he won't listen," he walked to the darker traits purple door and knocked.

"Go away!" was the small reply that came from inside.

Virgil heard the retreat of steps outside his room and let himself sob into his pillow again.

He finally came to terms with how Roman saw him, he knew Roman hated him, he never liked him and he would never like him.

His breathing began to speed up, his heartrate increasing and his vision becoming more blurry as more tears fell.

Logan knew something wasn't right when Roman shut himself in his room, so he went to Virgil's door and knocked, "Virgil, may I come in?" the darker trait sniffled and allowed the smarter trait into his room.

He held his knees to his chest trying to calm himself down. He felt the bed dip next to him.

"Virgil, do you wish to talk about what happened?"

Virgil stayed quiet, not wanting to talk about anything.

"I understand" Logan started "do you need a hug?" Virgil nodded slightly allowing himself to be wrapped in the arms of the logical trait.

Shortly, his breathing slowed and he turned to Logan.

"Logan?" he asked quietly

"Yes, Virgil?"

"Do you think Princey hates me?"

Logan stopped unsure of how to respond, he looked over to Virgil, and thought for a moment.  "No, he does not hate you, he just doesn't think before he speaks."

Virgil leans into Logan, allowing himself to enjoy the rare hugs he got from Logan and relaxed a little. "But he... he doesn't talk like that to you or Patton"

"I know" Logan looked away, feeling what he thinks is guilt.

"What's wrong with me?" Virgil felt more tears fall.

Logan looked at him "nothing, you're the one negative trait here, Roman just doesn't know what to do with you, you're different and it's hard for him to figure you out."

Virgil looked at the smarter trait sadly, "he doesn't even try"

"I know."

After falling into silence, Virgil and Logan sat together, thinking about what they could do to fix this. They heard a knock at the door, "c'm in" Vrgil murmurs, and the door opens slowly.

"Hey..." Roman and Patton walk in,

"How ya doing Kiddo?" Patton asked. Logan sighed a little frustrated at the lack of care of English in the sentence.

"I'm alright" Virgil mumbles

Patton looks at him concerned, "kiddo, he didn't mean it." Virgil shrugs.

"I'm sick of feeling like he hates me, and that I'm not good enough, or that I'm not doing my job well. I feel like I'm a burden."

Logan, Patton and Roman all looked at him sadly. Logan places a hand on Virgil's shoulder reassuringly, allowing Virgil to know someone is on his side. Patton sat next to Virgil and pulled him into a hug.

"Virgil, I'm so sorry, I didn't know I was making you feel that way. That was never my intention. I wanted to be there for you, and help you, but you're so negative and I don't know what to do with that because none of us three are negative and I don't know what to do. You don't do a bad job, you do your job well, better than any of us could ever do it. I'm sorry" Roman apologises.

Virgil looks at him shocked "wow Princey... I guess, I overreacted..."

"No you didn't, you are allowed to feel things" Patton interrupts. Virgil looks at the other three traits.

"I'm sorry we messed up game night, I'm sorry I messed things up."

"Virgil, you didn't mess anything up, we all make mistakes, it happens, and I am willing to work with you to bond and be better friends" Roman claims. Virgil nods and Roman engulfs him into a hug, and hugs him back.

Shortly after, Virgil feels Patton and Logan join into the hug.

They unanimously decide to watch a Disney movie and sit together, allowing them all to grow slightly closer to each other.
