Ruby's eyes looked across at me, puzzled by my utterance. "What did you say?" She asked, eyes full of intrigue.
I cleared my throat, "I said how beautiful it is here tonight." She smiled, her lips shaded in plum, nodding her head in agreement.
"It's a shame we don't get to do this as often, great food, and great company." I grabbed my wine glass, leaning it over the table slightly.
"A toast, to good times, and good people." She clinked her glass with mine before we both took a small and sophisticated sip.
"I have to say I don't know what's more beautiful tonight, you or the sunset." I laughed it off, brushing her compliment away as if it were nothing.
"I don't think I could ever compare to the stunning scene that is the sun setting." She giggled, a little more tentatively than usual.
"I think I'd have to disagree, no sunset can make me laugh and smile as much as you can." I could feel the blush grow on my cheeks, but luckily the dark skies shielded it well.
"How about we agree on this, beautiful people and beautiful views to top off a beautiful night." She smiled, raising her glass once more.
"Cheers!"
