Chapter 29

While we're driving i wipe away some blood that's on my face, that boy hit me pretty bad. "Why do you think they wanted to start a fight with us?"Corbs asks, "I don't know Corbs..." I say. The rest of the drive is very silent.

When we enter the village where we're gonna start our lives over, I immediately feel how tired i am. I feel like i haven't slept in days, even though that's not even true. I enter the parking lot of our apartment and i park the car. I get out and i feel the hot breeze hitting my face and immediately making me sweat. I walk to the other side of the car and i help Corbs out of the car. He grabs his walking stick and we starts to walk to the door, I just look at the sun. It's setting right now and it looks beautiful. There's this beach nearby and i never saw the sunset there, I have to work at 12 tomorrow so i can sleep in. "Corbs" I say while i don't take my eyes of the sun. "Yeah?" Corbs replies, "Get back in the car" I say with a little smile. Our mom loved the sunsets. Corbs walks back slowly to the car, I can see that he's kinda hesitating. "What are we gonna do Elle?" he asks and i just shrug my shoulders while i smile."Just wait here" I say when i run to the door which leads to the staircase. When i'm upstairs i run to our door, unlock it and i run to my room. I quickly change into my bikini and i throw a simple black dress over it. I grab Corbs his swimming pants and i run downstairs again. When i arrive at the car i see that Corbs is sitting in the car while watching something on his phone. "Hey!" I say when i get in the car, "Why did you change?" Corbs asks and i hold up his swimming pants. "We're going to the beach Corbs" I say and he smiles. "Are we gonna watch the sunset?" he asks and i nod. I start the car and we drive to the beach, I feel a hand on my shoulder, I look at Corbs and he has tears in his eyes but he smiles at me. "Ellie what the hell would i do without you" he says, I look at him and my eyes fill with tears, "What would i do without you" I say and he smiles.

When we arrive at the beach i help Corbs out of the car, he walks to the bathroom so he can change into his swimming pants. I just wait for him sitting on this little bench, I watch the sun which is slowly setting. There's almost no one at the beach, it's really quiet and peaceful. There's this ice cream stand, there's a little bar where you can buy food and drinks and last but not least there's a little shop which sells souvenirs. It reminds me to all the vacations we went had, mom always wanted to buy souvenirs. Dad always thought that it was nonsense and a waste of money but mom never listened. I smile, those times were amazing and look where we are now. Me and Corbs are alone...
