Chapter 81

When i hear people cheer i look up from my phone and i see the cheerleaders entering the field, I put my phone away and i watch their performances. The cheerleaders from the other team are way better but that's not that hard. Samantha is the leader and all they do is shake their buts. While the other team does hard jumps and they throw each other in the air. Then both of the teams enter the field and my heart makes a little jump when i spot Daniel, why the fuck is my heart acting so weird? I don't like that boy in that way right? Just as friends.

When we're halfway the game the cheerleaders come back on the field and they both perform again, our team is in the lead! I've never been a fan of sports but watching a baseball game live is fun. I look around me and i spot Daniel's mom and his sister, there's also a man with them who i assume is his dad. Then they all run up the field again and the game continues. After another hour we've won! Our team did super good and we're first in the league! I get up from my seat and i walk down the stairs, I enter the school and i walk to my locker. I left my math books in here and i really need to work on my homework. I'm not the best in math so i need to work hard for it. I stuff it in my backpack and i exit the school, I grab my earphones and i start blasting NF.

When i'm finally back at the apartment i quickly run up the stairs and i enter our apartment. I change into my work clothes, grab my car keys and i leave for work. But i'm gonna stop at the hospital first, I'm having a talk with Corbs his doctor to see how he's doing. When i'm driving there i'm super nervous, I keep tapping on the steering wheel and i'm biting my lip. When i pull up to the parking lot i walk to Corbs his room where i wait for the doctor, Corbs looks horrible. He has all these machines attached to him and he's super pale. He has his beanie on which makes a little smile appear on my face. I'm just sitting in the chair holding Corbs his hand when the door opens. I immediately look over my shoulder and i see Jonah, what's he doing here? "Hey" he says, "Hey" I say with a weak voice. "How are you doing?" he asks while he grabs a chair and he sits down across me. I shrug my shoulders as an answer, "I'm talking to the doctor about him in ten minutes" I say and he nods, "I hope he has some good new" he says and i nod, "Yeah me too". We just sit there in silence while looking at Corbs, then the door opens again and i see Jonah's mom and Esther entering the room, Jonah's also confused, "What are you guys doing here?" he asks confused. "You told us about this and we wanted to see Elle, she's my friend too you know" Esther says and she walks up to me. She pulls me into a hug and i go along with it, I need all the hugs in the world right now to make me feel better. "Here we made you some food" Jonah's mom says while she hands me a basket filled with fruit and wrapped bundles, I grab a bundle and i immediately smell meat. I smile and i thank her. It's super sweet that she did this but i don't want their help... I just want to fix it by myself even though i know that that's impossible. "How are your parents dealing with this?" Esther asks while she grabs a chair and sits down next to me. "My parents are dead!!" is what i want to scream but of course i don't. "They think it's horrible, but cause of our money problems they can't take any days off and visit us" I say and i bite my lip, I hope they bought my lie. Jonah's mom nods as an answer and we sit there in silence when the doctor enters the room. "Elle besson?" he asks and i nod, "Yes" I say and he walks up to me, he shakes my hand, "I'm doctor O'connell and i am taking care of your brother" he says and i nod. I get up from my chair and i walk to his little office with him, when he closes the door he immediately starts talking, "So he's reacting good to our medicine but the chemo is making him weaker and weaker" he says and i nod, I look at my hands and i start pulling some strings from my nails. "But we have good hope and that's something you need to do too" he says, I look at him and i give him a weak smile. "Do you know when he's gonna wake up again? Or when he's able to come home?" I ask and he shakes his head no, "We still need to wait till the cancer is completely gone otherwise we'll risk that it spreads" he says and i nod, I get it but i don't agree with it. I need him okey? If he's not here i can't sleep!

I walk back to Corbs his hospital room to find Jonah's fam still sitting there, "What did he say?" Jonah asks and i take a deep breath to make my tears disappear. "He's getting weaker cause of the chemo but the virus is slowly going away" I say and Jonah nods.

We talk for a bit and then we all leave, I thank Jonah's mom again for the food and i get in my car, I start it and i start driving to my work.
