TW self-deprecation, thoughts of self-harm, cursing
Wed Oct 21
Virgil sat on his bed staring at the cast on his leg. He drew his finger over where his friends had signed it. Patton insisted they all participate.
They probably still pity you.
You're so pathetic.
Virgil closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He checked the clock. It was one in the morning and he still couldn't fall asleep. He'd usually scroll through Tumblr to distract himself from the thoughts running in his head, but it didn't matter how low the brightness was, the harsh lighting bothered him. It hurt his head and made him miserable.
He curled in on himself and fell onto his side staring at the wall. He traced the patterns on the sheets sliding his hands along the smooth surface.
You look so pathetic now.
You can't do anything.
Useless.
Worthless.
Virgil pressed his hands against his ears. He just wanted the thoughts to stop. But how? Maybe... maybe there was something he could do? He stared pulled up his sleeve. A flash of purple crossed his vision. He stared at the bracelet on his wrist. He promised he'd talk to them when this happened again. He promised he wouldn't hurt himself. He bit his lip. It was so tempting. They wouldn't even have to know. But he promised. He promised.
He tugged at his purple hair as he buried his face in his pillow. Why does this all have to happen right now? Why couldn't he just go to sleep? Why did he have to deal with all this crap? A part of him wanted to just talk to them, but it was the middle of the night. He couldn't just wake them up to talk to them. He sighed. He grabbed his crutches and made his way into the hall as quietly as he could. It was difficult to walk quietly with crutches but he managed to get to the water fountain. He leaned them against the wall while he took a sip.
After he had his fill, he reached to grab his crutches. They fell onto the floor with a loud crash causing him to cringe. He stood there staring at the crutches on the floor before looking around the make sure no one heard.
Nice going.
He leaned down to grab them and lost his balance. He fell on his side.
Dammit!
He grabbed the crutches and looked around again. Someone was walking down the hall.
Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!
"Virgil?"
Virgil didn't move. He knew he looked pathetic sitting on the floor in front of the water fountain. But what was he supposed to do about it? He sighed.
"What are you doing on the floor?"
"What does it look like?"
The person sat down next to him. It was Thomas.
"It looks kind of like you fell."
"Congratulations, Sherlock. Are you going to make detective work a full-time career?"
"What are you doing up so late?" Thomas asked ignoring his sarcastic comment.
"I was getting water when my crutches fell over. I fell trying to pick them up. What's your excuse?"
"Oh..." Thomas rubbed the back of his neck, "I was watching Parks and Rec again when I heard the noise coming from down the hall."
Virgil chuckled as he shook his head.
