TW cursing, dirty jokes (not Remus for once...)

Sat Feb 27

Virgil sighed as he gathered his stuff. It was a little earlier than he wanted to be up, but he could take a nap soon. He grabbed his sketchbook and pencil as he left the room and walked down the halls. He grabbed a quick coffee and a muffin before walking down to the designated meeting spot. He was surprised he actually got himself something for breakfast, but he knew he'd want it at some point during the trip. He quickly downed his meds with his coffee as he walked.

Honestly, Virgil had almost completely forgotten about the art trip today. If it weren't for Remy texting him last night, he would have completely missed it. They were going to be looking at various paintings at an art museum today. They had to choose one to try to copy and write a short email about and they needed three paintings for a special midterm project: a paper. He didn't expect to need to write an essay for a painting class, but it was only 1000 words. He wasn't entirely looking forward to the work, but he thought it'd be interesting looking at the paintings.

Finally, he reached the right spot and met his other classmates waiting for the bus. He knew he'd be excited for this trip later, but right now he was too tired to care. He slowly sipped his coffee and tried to avoid the people while they waited. The bus pulled up and they all filed on and found seats. Virgil found a window seat and got comfortable. It wasn't long before Remy found him and sat down next to him.

"Hey, Babe! You feeling better?"

Virgil sighed but nodded.

"Yeah," he said.

"Look, I um... I know you don't want me to intrude on your life or whatever but I know how bad it is to hold all that shit in. I just-"

"I'm not mad at you, Remy," Virgil said.

"You're not?"

Virgil shook his head.

"No. As much as I hate it... you weren't entirely wrong. Patton seems to understand or at least he's known me long enough to know what to say, I guess. I know I'm a bit of an idiot sometimes; so, uh... thanks, I guess."

Remy smiled.

"I'm glad you're doing better! I know it doesn't always seem like it, but I can be a pretty good listener if you need," Remy winked.

"Oh, um... thanks. I'll uh... I'll keep that in mind."

The rest of the ride was mostly quiet. Virgil ended up finishing his muffin and coffee and scrolling through Tumblr on his phone the rest of the trip. He did want to go back to sleep, but he just ended up scrolling instead. Maybe if he hadn't eaten he could go back to sleep.

When they got to the museum, they all walked inside and met at the front desk. After a tour on a section of the museum, they were all granted freedom to roam for a while. Remy and Virgil stuck together as they traversed the building. Remy ending up commenting on about half of the paintings, leaving Virgil in tears.

"Oh, Honey. You aren't impressing anybody with those. Put some clothes on," they said as the two neared the next painting.

"It's weird to think how much times have changed over the years. This used to be considered a symbol of humanity and beauty. Now, it's how you get arrested."

"When did you get so philosophical?"

Virgil rolled his eyes as he turned to the next painting.

"Have you picked one to recreate yet?"

"Still-life's are one thing, but I don't know about naked people. If I wanted that I'd find another way."

"Oh! Dude!"

"What? Don't tell me you haven't at least thought about it? You do have a boyfriend now."

"Yeah, but... I don't... I don't really... I-"

"Woah! Hey! I didn't mean it to pressure you. I'm just teasing. If it makes you uncomfortable, I'll stop, okay?"

"Thank you."

"Yeah, no problem, Babe."

They continued looking at paintings until it was time to meet up for lunch. They both ending up finding subjects for both their projects before having to leave. Virgil took a picture of the painting he had to recreate and made a quick sketch in his book before moving on. He also made sure to take a picture of the information on the painting. He made sure to also take pictures of the three other paintings he needed for his essay along with the information the museum had for each one.

The museum had a small cafeteria for guests to eat, so they all went in and grabbed food. Remy, of course, got themself a coffee as well before sitting down. The two sat at an empty table and started eating when the professor and a few other kids from their table joined them. There wasn't much seating available, so Virgil knew he couldn't be upset by their arrival, but he really didn't like people. Even though they were his classmates, Remy was really the only person he was comfortable enough to talk to. Remy joined them in conversation sometimes and occasionally answered questions on Virgil's behalf, which he was quite grateful for, but they were mostly silent as they ate.

After lunch, they spent another few hours wandering the museum before going back to the bus. Virgil couldn't help but think back to what Remy had said. It took months before they even had their first kiss. He hadn't even considered going any further than that. Did Roman think about those things? Virgil was happy with things the way they were and he thought Roman seemed that way too. He wasn't used to a relationship yet and he didn't want to screw it all up. He didn't mind taking it slow. He liked slow. It was safe and comfortable and he could savor each step. He was happy with the way things were. He didn't want to go there. He wasn't comfortable with that yet.

He took a deep breath. He was getting himself worked up over nothing, right? They were just thoughts. Roman told him he was happy. Yeah, but that was about money and dates not... this. He didn't seem to mind how slow they were going. He insisted he was happy with the way things were. He never even brought up any of these topics. Virgil just had to trust Roman to tell him when things changed, right? Then again, Virgil wasn't very good at communication. But that didn't matter. Roman obviously respected Virgil's boundaries. If the topic ever comes up, Virgil could just say he want comfortable and Roman would be fine. It was fine.

Why was he even worrying about this? It was so stupid! He had so many better things he could be doing with his life right now! He could be taking a nap right now! Naps were a beautiful thing and he was missing a perfectly good opportunity to nap just so he could worry over silly things. He sighed. Remy was just teasing him. He really shouldn't let himself overthink it. It wasn't even a problem. Everything was fine.
