TW slight anxiety

Sat Nov 14

Virgil finished drying his hair before throwing his towel in his duffel bag in the corner of the room. He really needed to do laundry. He grabbed his phone. He had a few texts from his father. He didn't bother reading them. He often received drunk texts from his dad. He didn't feel like looking at them at the moment. He was going on a date with Roman and he didn't want his dad to ruin that. He went back to the bathroom to fix his hair and redo his makeup. He saw Janus walk in from the mirror. Janus stopped when he saw him.

"Hey, what's the doctor say?" Janus asked.

Virgil groaned. He had almost forgotten about that.

"At least another month on crutches but it's healing nicely."

"Well, I'm glad it's healing. Sorry you have to keep using those crutches."

Virgil sighed.

"Yeah, I can't wait for the day I get off of them. The day I do, I'm throwing them out of the nearest window."

(A/N this was my actual reaction when I was on crutches freshman year of high school. Sadly, my mother wouldn't let me throw them out the window when I was done with them.)

"We'll throw a party to celebrate," Janus said.

"The semester will be over by then."

"Then you can celebrate with me the day you lose them and celebrate with the others when we get back. My mom might even let you throw them out a window."

Virgil laughed.

"Seriously?!"

Janus nodded.

"She's pretty cool like that. I think you'll like her."

Virgil remembered what he and Logan had talked about last night. But it didn't feel right. Trying to invite himself over for Thanksgiving? Janus was already kind enough letting him stay over Christmas, but Thanksgiving too? He didn't want to impose.

"I hope so," Virgil said quietly.

He watched Janus walk away in the mirror. He had the perfect opportunity to ask and he didn't take it. He bit his lip. It just didn't feel right. He put away his makeup and walked back to his room. He almost ran over Joan on the way.

"Woah!" they said.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" Virgil said.

"You're fine!"

"Gosh, it seems like everyone is up here today," Virgil said.

"No, almost everyone is downstairs in the student center. I just forgot my book."

Virgil looked around before turning back to Joan.

"Is Roman downstairs with you?"

Joan shook their head.

"No, he stayed up here."

"Okay, thanks."

Virgil walked back into his room again. His phone screen was lit up. He looked at it to find another text. His dad was still texting him? He flipped his phone over and plugged it in with a sigh. He stood there for a minute trying to think of what to do next. He decided to walk across the hall and talk to Roman. He knocked on Roman's door and waited.

"Just a minute," he heard Roman's muffled voice yell from the other side.

A few minutes later the door opened.
