TW cursing, anxiety

Mon Feb 8

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

Virgil groaned. He hated mornings. They shouldn't exist. Life should just skip to afternoons when people were actually awake. Why did mornings exist? Who decided to make things happen early when the sun was still rising? If the sun is still waking up, he shouldn't be awake.

"Virgil?"

"Noooo," Virgil groaned.

"Yeah. Yeah. I know. Come on, we have class."

"But I still have so much sleeping I could do."

"I'm sure that's true, but you also put a lot of money into this place and you're expected to at least show up."

Virgil sat up and glared at Logan.

"Fuck you and your logic!"

"It got you out of bed, didn't it?"

Virgil huffed before sliding out of bed. He knew he couldn't argue. He needed to get out of bed and get started on his day, but that didn't mean he had to be happy.

"Whatever," he muttered.

The two got ready for the day and met with the others to walk to class. Roman tried to hold his hand, but he didn't really feel like being touched at the moment. Luckily, Roman didn't push it when Virgil moved his hand away.

"Everything okay?" Roman asked.

Virgil nodded.

"Yeah, I just... I don't want to be touched right now," he said awkwardly.

He felt kind of bad telling him that. He knew Roman just wanted to be close to him but he really just couldn't handle being touched right now.

"That's fine. You can hold my hand whenever you feel up to it," Roman smiled. "I don't want to make you uncomfortable."

Virgil couldn't help but smile. He was glad Roman was so understanding.

"Thanks."

They walked into class and sat down. Virgil noticed Roman reach for him again and stop himself before grabbing his phone. He felt kind of bad knowing Roman wanted to hold his hand and be close to him, but he was still glad Roman could understand. He didn't know why but he just really didn't want to be touched right now.

Virgil spent most of class trying to take notes and doodling on the sides of the paper again. Afterwards, he walked with Roman to his next class. Virgil kept his hands on the straps of his bag while they talked and Roman put his hands in his pockets. Virgil said goodbye and went to the student center to get some work done. He thought it'd be a good idea to start on his Spanish work. It didn't take long before he got bored and just ended up scrolling through Tumblr on his phone.

Before he knew it, he needed to go to his next class. He sat down and tried to get comfortable. Someone ended up sitting next to him and he tried to scoot away so they wouldn't touch him. He hoped they wouldn't think too much about it. He didn't want them to be self conscious about him scooting away from them. He ended up worrying about this throughout all of class and hardly noticed when everyone stood up to leave.

He waited for everyone else to leave before getting up and leaving himself. He decided to go to his room today. He just didn't feel like being around people, even if they were his friends. He set up his laptop and got started on his graphic design homework. He still didn't feel like working on his Spanish, even though he probably should.

He wasn't sure how long he was working before the door opened behind him. He didn't look away from his work, he didn't really feel like addressing whoever it was. It didn't take him long to figure it out when he sat down in the chair behind him. The only noise behind him was the slight creaking of the chair, the occasional flip of a page, and the scratching of a pencil on paper. He knew what Logan was doing, he did the same thing yesterday. Virgil readjusted in his chair and went back to his homework. They continued to work in silence for a few hours before Logan broke it.

"Patton wants to know if we're joining them for dinner."

Virgil stared at his work while he thought it over.

"I... I might get something from the student center. I just... I don't think I can do people right now."

He heard Logan tap his fingers on his desk for a minute before responding.

"Okay. Do you want me to pick something up for you?"

Virgil thought about it for a minute. He really didn't want to be near anyone. He just really didn't like the idea of anyone bumping up against him or anything today. He reached into his bag and pulled out his student ID before handing it to Logan.

"Thanks," he muttered as Logan took the ID from him.

"You can just text me what you want. I should be back in about an hour."

Virgil nodded. He heard the door open and close behind him before turning back to his work again. He sighed as he switched to his Spanish work. He really didn't want to do Spanish, but he had all week to work on his graphic design project.

A part of him wished he could ask Roman for help, but he'd rather try to figure it out himself first. That meant he actually had to make an effort to try. He went over the Spanish videos and his notes before looking back over the work. He didn't realize he had forgotten to text Logan until Logan texted him asking what he wanted. Virgil thought for a minute before just asking for a chicken sandwich.

Logan walked back in a few minutes later and placed the food on his desk. Virgil was confused to find fries with it.

"Um... thanks. I didn't really need the fries though."

Logan placed Virgil's ID on his desk.

"I know you didn't ask for them, but it's good to have at least some form of vegetables in your diet. Besides, knowing you, this is probably the only thing you're eating today."

Virgil opened his mouth to argue but closed it. He knew Logan was right and he hated it. He didn't need to be called out on his poor eating habits. Logan didn't add anymore to the subject. He just sat down and went back to his reading. Virgil just accepted his defeat and ate his stupid fries and sandwich.

He glanced at Logan calming taking notes at his desk before turning back to his Spanish. Logan could be sitting with the others or alone in the library, but instead he chose to sit here. Was it because he was afraid he'd have another panic attack? Did he not trust him to be alone? Virgil couldn't really blame him, but it did worry him. Or maybe just concern him? Whatever, it didn't matter! It just bothered him that Logan felt the need to sit with him. He was just a little... overly anxious today. He'll get over it. He'll be fine.

He stared at the sandwich in front of him. He was starting to feel less hungry. At least he wasn't wasting anyone else's money. He couldn't just throw it away though, Logan was still with him. That might be another reason Logan didn't trust him to be alone. He knew there wasn't anything he could do to change his situation right now. He just tried to get his Spanish done and force himself to eat as much as he could. Maybe he could go to bed early. Hopefully, tomorrow would be a better day.
