TW cursing, threats of violence
Tues Feb 9
Someone might think that waking up early often enough would make them used to it. They would be wrong. No matter how many mornings Virgil endures, he cannot get used to waking up early. Tuesdays and Thursdays were currently the banes of his existence. He would love to just stop showing up to this stupid tennis class, but Patton and Thomas always made sure he made it. He hated having two people around to drag his tired ass to a class he hated more than life itself. Why was physical education necessary for his degree? He wanted to be an artist, not a gym teacher or a personal trainer. Art didn't require running around like a psychopath!
He never thought he'd actually look forward to sitting in a room for an hour learning about rocks. But geology didn't make him move around. He could sit still and be left to his misery and longing for his bed. At least he could draw in his notebook while pretending to listen to the lecture. It's not like he wasn't trying, but in all honesty, he didn't really care about rocks that much.
At least after all of that, he got to go to his painting class.
"Hey, Babe! What's up?" Remy said as soon as Virgil walked into the room.
He was a little confused. He wasn't entirely sure if they were addressing him or not so he looked around the room.
"Come sit your ass down, Virgil!" Remy laughed.
Virgil walked over to where Remy was sitting and set his stuff down. He noticed Remy was wearing makeup today. They had on a white blouse with a black leather jacket and a black skirt and heels.
"Uh... nice look," Virgil said awkwardly.
"Thanks! I usually like to add a little color to my clothes, but I just love the skirt and heels and this jacket was just begging to be worn with them. I could probably have worn any top with it, but I think the white gives it a sort of classy vibe, you know?"
"Um... I guess?"
Remy laughed.
"But I think the makeup makes up for the lack of color in my outfit. It isn't much, but I think it makes my face pop! Ooh! I should dye my hair! I've been meaning to for a while. Where did you get yours done?"
"Oh, um... I did it myself. I just bought the colors and read the instructions."
"You didn't watch any tutorials or anything online?"
Virgil shook his head.
"I uh- I didn't have a phone at the time."
"Oh, are you planning on touching it up? We could do it together!"
"I was actually thinking about maybe growing it out again? It's been a while and I know Roman seems to like my natural hair."
Remy smiled maliciously.
"Roman. Is this your boyfriend?" Virgil blushed. "Ooh! You have a boyfriend! How precious! Is he cute? Does he treat you right? You know I don't mind kicking some ass!"
"No! He's a good guy! Leave him alone!"
Remy laughed again.
"Aw! You're in loooove."
"No I'm not! Leave me alone!"
"You are! Just look at you! You're smiling and blushing under that white foundation! You really like this boy!"
Virgil bit his lip. They were right. He was smiling, wasn't he?
"Yeah," he muttered, "I guess I do."
They squealed.
"Oh! You have to introduce me! I have to meet the boy who managed to get you to smile like that!"
Virgil jumped.
"What?! No!"
"Why not? I promise I won't tease you, if that makes it any better."
Virgil sighed.
"Fine. But you promised!"
Remy raised their hand.
"I promise!"
They continued with their painting mostly in silence. Occasionally, one would make a joke or something. Virgil found himself relaxing in Remy's presence. He wasn't used to being around people with as much energy as Remy. He guessed his friends were rubbing off on him.
After class, Remy walked to Spanish with Virgil. They waited outside and talked until Roman showed up.
"Okay, Remy. This is Roman," Virgil said waving his hand.
Remy smiled and held out their hand.
"Hello, Roman! I'm Remy!"
Roman looked between the two confused before shaking Remy's hand.
"Um, hi. How do you two know each other?"
"We're in a painting class together. You can see I have paint all over my hands. I just had to meet this boy Virgil was talking about in class today. And you two do seem like quite an adorable pair!"
"Oh, thanks! I like to think so!" Roman said proudly.
"But I will have to kick your ass if you break his little heart, understand?" Remy smirked.
Roman stared at Remy for a minute as if trying to assess the threat before nodding.
"O-okay. I'll um... I'll keep that in mind."
"Good!" Remy smiled and waved before leaving.
"They're a little odd, aren't they?"
"They're... something. I haven't entirely decided how to feel about them yet, but I think we're becoming friends."
Roman laughed and shook his head.
"It's nice to see you making friends."
Roman held out his hand. Virgil took it and they walked into Spanish together.
"So," Roman said with a smile, "you were talking about me?"
Virgil blushed.
"I only said you seemed to like my natural hair and then Remy started teasing me."
Roman smiled and booped his nose.
"You know you're cute when you blush."
Virgil buried his face in his hands which made Roman laugh.
"Aw, come on, Emo! I didn't mean to send you into hiding! I only said you were cute!"
"I'm not cute!" Virgil huffed.
"You know that's a lie, Kitten."
"Kitten?" Virgil removed his hands to glare at Roman.
"Don't like that one?" Virgil shook his head. "Alright, fine. I won't call you Kitten. But, can I still call you my Storm cloud?"
"Storm cloud sounds cool. I'm okay with that one."
"I'm glad you at least like some of my nicknames."
"Yeah, whatever makes you happy, Princey."
Roman laughed again. Virgil refused to admit he was actually happy he could make him laugh like that. Maybe Remy was on to something? Being able to make someone smile and laugh like that? Is that what love was? Could be really be in love?
