TW Remus, cursing
Virgil woke up to the sound of an alarm. He looked up and saw Roman stirring in his bed. Virgil felt a stinging in his arm. Did last night really happen? He was still so tired. He hated nights. He hated how easy it was to talk to people at night. Did he really just admit to everything?
"Hey! Emo nightmare! Are you good?"
Virgil looked up to see Roman standing over him. He nodded as he slowly got up. They got ready for the day and walked to class.
"So, I was thinking," Roman started.
"That sounds dangerous."
"Shut up and listen!" Roman said playfully hitting him on the arm, "I was thinking that you could choose the movie this weekend. I'm sure we could get the others to agree."
Virgil tugged on his sleeves.
"Oh... I don't think I'm going to join you guys this weekend. I'm starting to fall behind in some of my classes. I need to buckle down and get some stuff done."
"Well, that's no fun."
"I know, but it's important. Maybe next week?"
"Or," Roman lit up, "we could try to help you catch up so you can still join us! We can help you study!"
Virgil shook his head.
"We'd just distract each other from getting any actual work done."
"Oh come on, Charlie Frown! We'll just give it a try! What are you struggling with most right now?"
Virgil hesitated. He tugged at his sleeves again as he felt Roman's eyes on him. He wanted to curl in on himself and disappear.
"Um... Spanish..."
Roman smiled.
"I can help you with that! I'm actually good at Spanish!"
"I don't know, Princey."
"Just give me one chance! You and me in the library later! I'll help you with your Spanish and we'll see how you feel about it later!"
Virgil sighed. He did need help...
"Alright fine! But we're only focusing on Spanish!"
Roman winked.
"Of course."
Virgil wasn't thrilled about Roman's offer but he was really struggling. When their classes were over and they had eaten lunch, the two met in the library. Virgil had been picturing all of the ways it could go wrong. They'd get distracted. Roman would laugh at him for being stupid. He'd just end up more confused than ever...
But it didn't happen. Roman pulled out the homework and went over each of the sentences with him. He helped him understand what they were supposed to be saying. He didn't laugh when Virgil struggled. He sat patiently and waited for it to click. Virgil was surprised to see this side of Roman. Roman didn't let Virgil give up or move on to something else. He helped him through his frustrations until the assignment was done. And it only took an hour. He even helped him get a little ahead on some of the assignments. Afterward, Roman walked with him back to the student center and bought him a coffee. Virgil insisted on paying for himself but Roman refused. "Tutor's treat," was all he said.
They joined the others and Virgil pulled out the book for his assigned reading. The story was actually somewhat interesting. He made sure to actually write comments or as the professor said "have a conversation with the book." He knew he was going to have to write a paper on this book and he wanted to have notes. He was so busy he didn't even realize the others were trying to get his attention until someone tugged on his sleeve. He looked up to see Patton pulling his hand away.
