TW cursing, anxious thoughts
Sat March 27
Virgil was very proud of himself. He had gone to bed early last night and actually managed to join Patton for breakfast this morning. Logan made sure he took his meds before setting up his homework at his desk. Virgil set up his own paints before pulling out his reference image and his painting. He stared at the image for a bit before figuring out how to continue the painting.
It was quiet in the room. Virgil wanted to put on some music or something, but he also didn't want to disturb Logan's studying. He knew he could probably ignore it, but he didn't want to test it. He didn't think Logan was going to leave him alone. He had been doing a lot better these past couple of weeks than he was before. The others weren't hovering over him as much but Logan was still very cautious about Virgil taking his medication and refused to let him be alone for too long.
He didn't entirely mind the company and he could understand Logan's concern, but he didn't feel like Logan needed to worry anymore. At least not right now. He felt fine. He confronted his dad, he was ahead on his work, he had sent out applications, and he got to spend the whole weekend with his paints. Life was going great right now! But if Logan felt better knowing Virgil wasn't alone, he wasn't going to stop him. He knew he'd need it if he hit another down.
It was a little annoying trying to mix the right color for his shading. He was really close until he added just a little too much blue and now it was off. He was still having fun though. It was interesting watching his brush leave behind the solid colors. He felt relaxed as his brush dipped between colors and slowly worked the canvas slowly bringing his work to life under his fingertips. He couldn't help smiling softly to himself as he looked over his work. It wasn't the best but he was falling in love with the way the colors blended together. He knew he could fix his mistakes. Paint was very forgiving that way. He could just cover up all of his mistakes.
Virgil and Logan decided to meet the others downstairs for lunch. As much as he loved what he was doing, Virgil's back was stiff from hunching over the canvas for so long. He stretched before leaving the room. They met at the dining hall and swiped their cards before grabbing plates and finding the others. Virgil sat next to Roman and Joan. He didn't pay much attention to the conversation around him but did end up laughing when Remus threw a piece of his chicken at Janus from across the table.
"You little bitch!" Janus yelled.
"Don't underestimate my abilities!"
"You barely do homework. There's no way you can build a fucking bomb!"
"I'm sorry, what?" Virgil asked looking between the two.
"It's Remus, how can you still be surprised?" Logan muttered.
"I just missed the reason he needs a bomb," Virgil pointed out.
"If I wanted to take over a country, a bomb would be a very effective tool. Multiple to be exact," Remus said matter of fact.
"Right, and you don't have the mental capacity to build one. Plus, you'd need an army," Janus stated.
"I am an army, Bitch!" Remus said.
Janus rolled his eyes.
"You can't go against a whole country."
"Depends on the country," Logan muttered.
"What?" Janus asked.
"Maybe a small country with a poorly designed government. Remus and his instability could probably figure out a way," Logan shrugged as he picked up pieces of his salad.
"Logan, please for the love of all of my sanity, do not encourage him!" Janus growled.
"I'm just saying."
"Well don't! He doesn't need any more crazy ideas!"
Virgil laughed lightly to himself and shook his head as he stood up to take his plate to the dish pit. He walked back to the group and said his goodbyes before heading back upstairs.
He sat down at his desk and stared at his painting. He had gotten a good amount of work done so far. He paused before grabbing his phone and checking his emails. Chewed his lip as he refreshed to see if something new would pop up. He sighed. No replies.
He went back to the app and looked through other job openings. He submitted a few more applications before turning on some music and turning back to his painting. He hummed along as he dipped his brush delicately in the paint and glided it across the canvas. He was just vibing in his room with his work and music. He felt relaxed as he just enjoyed the peace around him.
He wasn't sure how long he was in his room before there was a knock at the door. He sighed as he looked down at his work.
"What do you want?" Virgil yelled. He didn't feel like getting up.
He turned as the door opened and Roman peeked his head in. Virgil paused his music so Roman could speak.
"Hey, I wanted to know if you were going to join us for the movie? You've been in your room all day and some of us want to get to know you again."
Virgil smirked at Roman's words and looked down at his work again. He had been painting all day.
"I just saw you at lunch."
"Lunch was two hours ago!"
Virgil checked the time on his phone. He couldn't believe he had been in here for so long.
"Well," Virgil started, "I guess I can spend some time with you guys."
"Aw! Thank you, Virgil!" Roman cooed.
"Yeah, yeah! Whatever! Just give me a minute to clean up!"
Roman gave him a small laugh before leaving the room. Virgil covered his paints so they wouldn't dry out and set down his canvas. It could probably use some time to dry before he worked on another layer. He made sure his brushes were clean and set them off to the side so they could dry a little before grabbing his phone and leaving the room.
Roman cheered as Virgil entered the room. He stuck his tongue out at him before grabbing a slice of pizza and sitting down. Roman sat next to him and the movie played. Janus, Remus, and Logan had decided not to join this week. They waved goodbye halfway through the movie when Logan left for work. Virgil felt awkward not joining him. He knew it was because he didn't have a job, but a small part of him felt guilty for not showing up. He didn't know he felt as if he was abandoning Logan and his coworkers. He knew there was nothing he could do and there was no point in him leaving, but he still felt this way. Maybe he could talk about it later?
He knew possibly talking over his issues might help assure him this was just his anxiety and it was all in his mind. He knew deep down it was, but he still wanted the reassurance that everything really was okay. Everything was good.
