"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!" Thomas shouted as he burst into the room causing Virgil to fall out of bed.
"Aw, thanks, Kiddo!" Patton said groggily as he sat up and rubbed his eyes.
"You okay, Virgil?" Janus laughed.
"You don't just come bursting into a room screaming like that! Warn a guy next time!" Virgil said.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you! I was just excited!" Thomas said reaching out a hand to help Virgil up. "Joan and I didn't get to see you on your birthday and Logan didn't tell anyone about his! This is the first time we're all here on someone's actual birthday and I'm excited to celebrate it!"
"We Facetimed you on my birthday," Virgil said.
"That isn't the same and you know it!"
"It's too early for all of this!" Virgil protested.
"It's already 8:30," Logan said.
"And we need to go get breakfast!" Thomas said dragging Patton out of bed.
Patton let out a small yelp of surprise as he was dragged out of the room. Logan followed them and Janus glanced at Virgil before following as well. Virgil sighed and looked at the bed before deciding to leave the room. As much as he wanted to go to sleep, he still had a little adrenaline from the scare Thomas gave him and he was kind of hungry. He joined the others in the elevator down and they walked to breakfast together. Patton was already more awake and talking excitedly with Thomas while the rest of them stood in silence.
Once the elevator dinged on the ground floor, they walked to where breakfast was being served and found Joan and the twins already eating. They all grabbed plates and joined them.
"Hey! Happy birthday, Pat!" Roman said cheerfully upon seeing them.
"Aw! Thanks, kiddo!" Patton said as he sat down.
"Ugh! How are you so awake this early in the morning! It's disgusting!" Virgil groaned.
"Come sit with me, Virgil. We can hate the morning people together," Joan said.
Virgil smirked before sitting down next to Joan.
"Aw, you don't actually hate us!" Thomas said.
"I hate everyone in the morning. I'll stop hating you when I wake up," Joan said.
"Virgil, you still love me right?" Roman said playfully.
"No, I have to agree with Joan on this. Wait until I wake up first."
"You even hate me?" Patton asked.
"It's your birthday, I won't hate you," Joan said.
"I think it's impossible to hate Dad," Virgil said.
"It kind of is," Joan agreed.
They continued to eat their breakfast and banter with one another before going upstairs to get dressed and go outside in the snow. Even though it was their last day at the resort, Virgil still didn't feel like skiing. He knew he was going to die trying and he didn't feel like dying quite yet. Plus, it looked like a lot of work. So, he tried sledding a bit with Patton and sitting on a bench and chatting with Logan.
They later went inside for cocoa and talked by the fire. Patton was curled up next to Logan. Virgil was half-asleep leaning against Roman, who had an arm wrapped around him. They did a lot this week and his sleep schedule was still a little off from the fire the other day. Roman was warm and comfortable, especially by the fire and with the cocoa in his system. He knew he was falling asleep. He wanted to stay awake for Patton, but gosh was he tired.
