TW light angst, possibly cursing
It took a bit of convincing, but he managed to slip away from the others for work. Patton made him promise he'd text him at least once an hour or they'd send a search party. He was on the register today. He hated talking to people. He preferred being in the back making their drinks or plating their food. His favorite was dishes. He didn't have to talk to anyone. He could just focus on his work in peace. But no. Today he had to talk to people. He had to deal with needy and rude customers. He had to answer their questions. He had to help them order. He had to plaster a smile on his face and welcome anyone who walked in.
Luckily, the store closed at ten on Sunday's instead of eleven. After helping the managers close, he drove home. Halfway there he remembered what had happened. He couldn't go home. It never really felt like a home anyway. He changed directions and headed back to the college. It was close to 11:30 when he finally walked back into the room. Patton shot out of his bed immediately upon seeing Virgil.
"You didn't have to wait for me," Virgil said.
"I couldn't sleep. I'm just worried about you," Patton said.
A pang of guilt shot through Virgil's stomach.
"You don't have to worry about me, Patton. I'll be okay."
Patton gave him a hug.
"I know."
Patton left Virgil to grab a change of clothes and returned to his bed. Virgil went to the bathroom to change and relieve himself before bed. Once he was finished, he curled up in the blankets and fell asleep.
"Virgil...... Virgil...... Virgil!"
Virgil moaned as he turned to face the voice calling his name. He looked up to see Roman standing over him.
"What do you want?" Virgil moaned.
"You need to get up. We have class in thirty minutes."
"Do I have to go?"
"Yes!" Roman said ripping the blankets away from him.
"That's just cruel!" Virgil whined as he sat up.
"Shh! Don't wake Patton!"
"How considerate of you."
"He doesn't have a class soon!"
"Yeah, yeah!"
Virgil sighed before standing up and grabbing a change of clothes. Roman left the room to give Virgil some privacy. Virgil quickly changed into his usual attire before walking to the bathroom to fix up his makeup. Roman waited for him in the hall. They stopped by the student center. Roman ordered a frappe and a muffin while Virgil just took a black coffee. Roman offered to get him something to eat, but he declined. They walked to class and sat in the back of the room. They sat in silence eating/ drinking their breakfasts. Virgil scrolled through Tumblr while Roman did something on his phone. Virgil didn't really care to find out what Roman was up to.
After class, Roman walked Virgil to his next class promising to meet up with him later before leaving. Calculus was boring. He was trying not to fall asleep and take notes but it was hard. Finally, class was over. He walked out to see Janus leaning against the wall. Virgil sighed.
"You guys aren't going to leave me alone today, are you?"
"Not a chance," Janus said.
"I'm not going to do anything!" Virgil groaned. "I was in a bad mindset yesterday, but I'm fine!"
"According to Joan, you were 'fine' when you left him and Roman. Then an hour later-"
"I get it!" Virgil said frustratedly.
