TW cursing, anxiety

Thurs Dec 24

Virgil yawned as the movie ended. He stared at the tree sitting in the corner of the room. He and Janus had helped Grace decorate it. He couldn't take his eyes off of the twinkling lights. He loved the way they transformed the dark room. He let out a content sigh as he thought about what this year's Christmas would be like.

His dad really liked Christmas. He was sometimes like a little kid. He'd blast Christmas music through the house and put on movies late at night. He always made Virgil help decorate the tree and bought lots of cookies since neither of them knew how to bake. It was the one time of the year Virgil didn't mind being home. His dad would drink less and be in an overall better mood. He was always excited to see Virgil open the presents he got him. Virgil had always tried pretending like he wanted what he got, but he just wasn't interested in sports or camping or the outdoors in general. His dad just didn't understand his son wasn't interested in the "typical boy" stuff.

This year he'd be without his dad completely. Virgil and Janus had spent the day helping Grace bake cookies and decorating them. Close to the end of the day they needed to clean up. Instead of putting away the icing they decided to just empty as much as they could onto the cookies. They had fun with it at first. They made a little demonic Angel and a Cyclopes bear but eventually they got lazy. They just started making little "planets" with multiple colors of icing on them. Finally, they just started scooping icing onto cookies and turning them into sandwiches. They laughed the entire time they worked until they finally ran out of icing. They put everything away and took pictures of their fine creations before sending them to the others in the group chat.

(A/N yes... my siblings actually did all of that. I made the tiny snowman and went to my room. Yes, they made a demon Angel and cookie sandwiches with icing all because they didn't want to put away the icing.)

After spending the day decorating cookies, they watched a Christmas movie. Now, Virgil was tired. The boys went to bed, Virgil falling quickly into a comfortable sleep.
