Thurs March 18

It was a rather peaceful day. Virgil spent it all indoors today. A few of the others decided to go outside for a little while and enjoy the fresh air and the lake. He would watch them from the window sometimes but he didn't want to join them today. Remus seemed to be done throwing people in after yesterday but that didn't stop him from jumping in. Virgil still couldn't understand why they'd want to swim when it was so cold out.

He spent most of his day on the couch scrolling through Tumblr on his phone. Thomas started a movie marathon at some point. Virgil mostly ignored the movies playing as he scrolled through his phone. Some of the others from outside joined them. Patton called in the rest of them for lunch after the last movie played. Most of them ate in the living room. Logan had decided to spend the day getting ahead in his classes and was sitting at the table with a textbook.

After lunch, Janus and Patton decided to make cookies. Joan insisted they "test" the cookie dough before they baked the cookies. Even with most of the group taking spoonfuls of dough, there were an insane amount of cookies. Janus and Patton had agreed on making thumbprint cookies. The smell of sugar and fruits filled the house.

It didn't take long for the first batch to disappear. By the time the next batch came out of the oven, they were able to keep some on the cooling tray long enough for another batch. Once, all of the cookies were baked, Patton put a pile on a plate and sat down next to Logan, who hadn't moved.

"Try some," Patton said sliding the plate in front of him.

"I'm not a big fan of jelly," Logan said without looking up from his textbook, "but thank you for the offer."

"But it's Crofter's," Patton said.

"I'm afraid I don't know that brand," Logan said finally looking up at Patton.

Patton gave him a large grin and slid the plate closer to him.

"They make really good jelly. Just try it."

Logan sighed as he took a cookie.

"I'm trusting you on this," Logan said.

"You won't regret it!" Patton said excitedly.

Logan took a bite of the cookie. He looked at it in shock before taking another bite.

"Okay, I'll admit, that's not bad," he said.

"See? Mom loves Crofter's! She always has a jar somewhere in the house. It's the only brand she'll use. I pretty much grew up on it! She'd make me peanut butter and jelly sandwiches over the summer when I was little. It brings back a lot of good memories."

"My parents always got this premium preserve or something. I can't remember the name of it but it tasted like leather. I absolutely hated it. My parents insisted it was 'healthier' than most jams. I didn't care. I honestly thought all jams were either too sweet or like what my parents got."

"No! This brand is really good!"

"I'm not disagreeing with you, Patton."

Patton beamed as Logan took another cookie and turned to his book. Everyone was quiet as they ate cookies and watched movies.

Later, Patton decided to drag Logan away from his work to teach him how to cook. The kitchen was filled with quiet arguing and Patton's giggles. Logan tried his best, but it was clear he didn't know what he was doing in the slightest. By the time dinner was ready, Logan was done with people.

After dinner, Remus insisted they have another fire. They agreed and Remus ran outside to get it started. Janus sighed and followed him out before the others slowly joined them. Patton gathered the ingredients for s'mores and followed them out last. They set up the spot and Logan lit the fire, not trusting Remus to do it himself. They roasted marshmallows for a while and just enjoyed the warmth.
