TW mention of hospitals
Mon March 15
It had been a long day. They ended up eating a good amount of the leftovers for breakfast and lunch. A few of the others went back out to the lake while most of them hung out inside. Virgil had pushed enough boundaries being near the water yesterday and was perfectly fine staying on the couch today. Later, Patton almost burned his hand cooking dinner leading Logan to take over the stove before realizing he didn't know what he was doing. After dinner, Remus insisted they get a fire started.
They all agreed and the twins went outside to start getting everything set up. Virgil helped Thomas with the dishes while Logan and Janus went outside to help the twins. Joan and Patton gathered the supplies for s'mores before heading outside. Once the dishes were done, Thomas and Virgil joined the others outside. There was a ring of chairs around a small fire pit. Patton and Roman were trying to set up a small outdoor table to put the food on while Logan was keeping Remus away from the starting flames. Janus and Joan were both sitting in the chairs, Joan on their phone and Janus laughing at Remus and Logan.
Virgil and Thomas found seats and picked up conversation with the others. As the fire picked up, the others joined them in taking seats. Virgil sunk into his chair as the warmth of the orange glow in front of him filled him. He couldn't remember doing a fire like this. Roman leaned over and grabbed his hand. Virgil turned to look at him and Roman gave him a smile.
"Dad used to do these with us when we were little," Roman said as he looked over the fire. "Until Remus decided to show off his new cartwheels and managed to catch his jacket on fire."
"They were some awesome cartwheels though," Remus said.
"You almost went into the fire! If Dad hadn't grabbed you, you would have gone right in!" Roman said.
Remus shrugged.
"You're just jealous you can't do a cartwheel!"
"Please no cartwheeling today, Remus. I don't think any of us can handle you throwing yourself into a fire," Patton said worriedly.
Remus leaned back in his seat.
"I haven't been hospitalized yet," Remus said.
"Which is very surprising, honestly," Roman muttered.
"It's not fun," Virgil muttered causing everyone to look at him.
Virgil shrunk under the attention.
"I um... sorry," he said.
"I mean I wouldn't think it'd be fun," Remus said thoughtfully. "I did have to go to the ER a few times and I've been to the doctor over a lot of stuff but I've never actually been hospitalized for anything major."
"Although he did get close once!" Roman said. "It's a miracle he survived this long. Mom says we should celebrate him being alive with more fanfare."
"I was hospitalized as a baby," Patton said thoughtfully. "I was born too early and needed special care for a bit." Patton paused. "I did have to go to the ER a few times when I was little because of a few incidents."
"I went to orthopedics when my arm was fractured, but other than that I don't think I've ever had any serious injuries," Logan said.
"You said you went around with that for a month! I wouldn't be surprised if you just didn't know about any serious issues!" Janus said.
Logan opened his mouth before tilting his head and closing it.
"If it isn't obvious, my parents didn't really pay attention to it. I ended up fine though."
