Finals and Winter Celebrations

Sat Dec 5

The school decided to hold a sort of Christmas celebration for the students to get everyone in a good mood before finals. Saturday morning Virgil woke up to the student center being filled with tables. All of the halls were lined with tables. Some held games, some crafts, and others had fun snacks. Patton was excited to try out the different games and crafts. He and Roman convinced everyone to try out decorating a T-shirt. They split into small groups to try out different foods and games. Virgil decided to try his hand at a Wii bowling competition to win a special camera. He managed to hold the top score for a bit before someone beat him.

In the administration office hall there were donuts for the students to try. Virgil ended up getting a maple donut and Roman got strawberry icing. They each grabbed a hot cocoa and sat down in their usual space with the others while consuming mass amounts of sugar. Logan tried to warn them against eating too much sugar but no one cared.

Patton and Logan disappeared for a couple of hours to have their date at that sandwich shop Patton had found earlier that week. Logan seemed a little hesitant, but still decided to go despite Patton buzzing with sugar.

Later that evening groups were singing Carols in different languages. They even had the Jewish students and staff sing songs for Hanukkah. Roman and Virgil had to join their Spanish class in singing Feliz Navidad. Patton and Janus joined the French class in singing Jingle Bells. Virgil wasn't too surprised to see Logan took Latin.

After the Carols, the school lit up a Christmas tree in the quad and everyone went to a special (free) dinner. The group had managed to get a table together and laughed most of the time. After dinner they decided to just go to bed.

Sun Dec 6

Everyone worked together to study all day. After spending the day celebrating the end of the semester and the upcoming break, Virgil was a nervous wreck. He knew he was going to fail his Spanish exam. Patton was just as nervous about the history exam which Virgil helped Patton study for. Logan's parents kept messaging him placing a lot of pressure on him. They put him in a foul mood which led to him snapping at the others a few times. That night Virgil ended up having a mental breakdown leading Thomas, Roman, and Joan to follow suit. Patton tried his best to calm everyone down but eventually, everyone was stressing out and crying together. They decided to just go to bed after that.

Mon Dec 7

Virgil got the oral exam over with on Monday. He was extremely nervous still and he was pretty sure he failed it, but at least it was over. The college allowed them to schedule when they took their own exams. Logan and Janus wanted them all out of the way, so they scheduled most of theirs at the beginning of the week. Thomas, Remus, and Roman wanted to spend a little more time studying before taking their exams so they scheduled towards the end of the week. Virgil, Joan, and Patton just scheduled them periodically throughout the week. Virgil couldn't handle the idea of more than one exam a day unless he had to. The oral exams were non-negotiable because there were so many students who had to take them. He ended up taking his written Spanish exam on Monday as well just to get it out of the way.

After the exam he studied for his pulp fiction exam. He needed to remember the names of the books and their authors. He also needed to create a short summary of each story. The only problem was he hadn't entirely read all of each book. There was at least one he had skipped entirely. He was frantically looking over all of his books to see what he was missing and trying to remember what author went with each book. He knew he wasn't going to remember it, but he could at least try.

Tues Dec 8

Virgil took the exam in the afternoon so he could sleep in. There was no way he was waking up early to take an exam. Patton was making sure everyone was going to bed at a decent time and he woke everyone up to drag them down for breakfast before it closed. Logan was already awake and dressed by the time Patton woke Virgil up. They all ate together but the table was missing it's usual banter. Everyone was far too stressed to handle it.
