TW self-deprecation, cursing
Thurs Nov 19
Virgil sat in his art class staring at his paper. For some reason, he didn't really feel like doing art. He sighed as he started sketching. He listened to the others talking around him but he didn't pay much attention to them. It was nice to have at least some noise.
The day had been pretty uneventful. Everyone was still concerned about him and was afraid to leave him alone again. They met him outside of his classes and made sure he didn't go hiding in the library again. They brought him food back from the dining hall so he could eat without actually paying. It wasn't much, but it was something. He still felt guilty for causing all of this trouble.
He rubbed his arm where he had scratched it. The purple bracelet peeked out from under his sleeve. He sighed again. He felt like absolute trash. He was broke and homeless. He was struggling to get all of his stuff done on time. He glared at his paper. His art sucked. He hated it.
After class, he shoved his papers away and walked out where Roman, Thomas, and Joan were sitting in the hall waiting.
"I don't need babysitters," Virgil mumbled as he walked past them.
"We were already here for rehearsal," Joan said following him.
"Well, aren't I special then?" Virgil rolled his eyes.
"You are!" Roman said.
Virgil blushed a little causing the others to laugh.
"So, anyways, how was class?" Thomas asked.
"Not bad, I guess. We're starting our sketches for watercolors."
"Oh your painting?" Roman asked.
"No, we're going to use watercolor pencils."
"They have watercolor pencils?" Joan asked.
Virgil nodded.
"Yeah, you can blend them with water. I've only used them a couple of times in high school."
"Do you still have the drawings?" Thomas asked as they walked outside.
Virgil bit his lip.
"No... I don't have any of my art from high school anymore. My dad kind of... burned it."
"He burned it?!" Roman asked loudly making Virgil cringe.
"Yeah, he isn't a fan."
They entered the main building, Roman holding the door open for everyone.
"Well that's a pretty shitty thing to do," Joan said.
Virgil shrugged.
"Nothing I can do about it now."
Roman shook his head.
"That was your work! You put your heart and soul into that and he just burned it?!" Roman asked.
"What?!"
They all turned to see Patton looking at them concerned.
"We're fine, Patton," Thomas said. "We're just talking about Virgil's art."
"Someone burned your art?" Patton asked causing Janus to look up.
Virgil shifted uncomfortably.
"Well... my dad wasn't happy I was doing art. He said it wasn't very 'manly' so he burned my sketchbook. It was hard explaining to my teacher why I didn't have my sketchbook or any of my assignments anymore. I stopped doing art for a couple of years after that."
