Breathing became laborious for Kennedy as she collapsed to the ground with a sharp grunt. For the last two hours she had been non stop moving. Nova had Kennedy run four miles for a warm up, and for someone that didn't run, it was hell on earth.
After she finished that job she barely got a minute to rest and get some water before her dodging skills were immediately put to the test. Spell after spell came hurtling at Kennedy and there was no speaking out her frustration unless she wanted to get hit with a spell that really would hurt.
The last thing her and Nova did was hand to hand combat. Kennedy had been fairly okay with this considering her history with her Aunt, but she was definitely no match for the skill Nova had. Kennedy had easily been punched in the gut three times, kicked off her feet seven times, shoved to the floor twice and pinned to the ground eight times.
By the time there two hour training was done Kennedy's body was crying out for her to stop moving, so when she was thrown to the ground for the third time she remained there and let herself catch her breath.
A gentle breeze came over the girl causing her to sigh in relief. That relief was quickly shut down when Nova's head appeared above her.
"Not bad for a newbie." She thought aloud as she stuck her hand out for Kennedy to grab. "But your foot work needs a lot of improving alongside your attention to detail."
Kennedy grunt in response and slapped her hand around Nova's wrist so she could pull her up.
"To be fair.. I was given a total of two breaks in the last two hours after not being able to have a trial period of working out so I could get my body used to things." Kennedy exhaled sharply.
With her brow's raised and a small smirk on her mouth Nova rolled her eyes as she watched Kennedy hold her hands over he head.
"Good thing we do it all over again tomorrow, huh?"
"Ha. Ha. Very funny, immaculate sense of humor Nova, really. That's greatly appreciated."
The women let out a single airy laugh as she watched the girl carefully.
"I'll be honest. When you first walked out here I didn't think you had any of this in you. But when pushed yourself to complete that run, and when I came at you with my fists in the air yet you didn't back down, I knew my first thoughts on you were wrong. You're a good kid. You've got a good heart." Nova compliment causing Kennedy to send her a smile as her breathing finally calmed down.
"Thank you, Nova."
"No problem kid." She respond with a nod. "Tomorrow I'll cut you some since you'll be more sore then you have possibly ever felt, but know that when you come by tomorrow we're going to stat figuring out what triggers your abilities."
Kennedy nodded her head, but a tiny smile was on her face.
"I think I sort of already know what might be it."
"What?" Nova asked
"My emotions. I mean every time anything has gone wrong it's because I'm in some sort of distress. Whether it's panic, sadness, anger, grief, any of it. The only thing that throws me off is when I brought Gabrielle back to life. I wasn't any of those things because I genuinely couldn't feel anything. I was numb to everything at that moment." Kennedy explained.
Nova hummed in response and nodded her head once more.
"Negative emotions so far seem to be the cause of the issues, but I wonder I positive ones have the same effect.. doesn't matter right now. Go rest, massage your muscles out and-"
Kennedy looked to her instructor with confusion as the women stopped talking only to stare behind Kennedy with a stone cold and confused look that settled when she realized the person running at them was none other then Maisie and Leighton who were wheezing from the lack of air they experienced.
