The following day Kennedy was supposed to meet up with Ron, Harry, and Hermione to help them do some extra studying for their upcoming OWL exams, and since she had passed them with flying colors- for the most part- she thought she would assist Hermione in forcing the boys to study.
Knowing the two, that would have been a chore within itself. But for whatever reason, the three had to cancel their study date since Hagrid supposedly needed them for something important. At first, Kennedy believed they were just itching to get out of studying, but when she heard Hermione was also going she knew it must've been as important as Hagrid had made it seem.
So with some free time on her hands, Kennedy decided to walk down the hall from the Owlery where Maisie and Leighton had asked to meet up. She hadn't known why they wanted to, but Kennedy just supposed it was to hang out.
But as she was on her way to the two Kennedy round a right side corner only to spot Nova hunched in a corner whispering to none other than Umbridge herself. Confusion clouded Kennedy's brain as she listened in to what the two women had to say.
"-I'm not asking you if you think she's a good student, I'm asking if you think she has control over herself," Umbridge asked rather rudely In Kennedy's opinion, though Nova didn't seem all that phased with the shorter women who was easily a few more inches taller then Kennedy herself.
"And I'm saying she has the potential to. We have made one or two milestones in her training just since she has woken up. Just give her a couple more months and I think she holds a lot of promise-"
"Pardon me, Miss Erolain. But I have a school full of both advanced and unskilled Witches and Wizards. Nova everyone would be able to protect themselves from a fly, nonetheless a young girl with mystical abilities and a pair of wings, you understand? I'm putting forth the safety of my students-" Umbridge started while Nova smirked, causing the women to halt.
"What are you smirking for?" Umbridge asked with a tight smile.
"I beg for your forgiveness, your highness. But nobody in this school is 'yours'. They are their own people and might I add, Dumbledore is still the Headmaster. So if anyone is anybody's students, they would be his." Nova bit back as respectfully as she possibly could.
Though that was proven to be very difficult with how pushy and persistent this woman was. Nova agreed now more than anything with Kennedy in calling this women 'Umbitch'. Though if anything Nova would have preferred many words far stronger than that.
Kennedy's brows shot up and she had to clasp her hand over her mouth to stop herself from laughing at the expression on Umbridge's face. The woman looked absolutely appalled by the statement Nova made, then she tried to cover it with a smile.
So she really just ended up looking like she was smiling through the most painful thing she had ever witnessed and or felt in her entire life.
And Kennedy was all for it. She would definitely be offering to pay for Nova's next tattoo after what had just happened.
"I-I beg your pardon?" Umbridge stuttered out before smiling and inhaling sharply. "I would sincerely take back what you have just said to me or there will be severe consequences."
Nova snort and quickly covered her nose.
"Ma'am, I meant every word of what I said. Now going back to the whole Kennedy discussion..." Nova trailed while stepping closer to the shorter woman, towering over her. "I have never met a more strong-willed and caring person in my life. She would do anything and everything to control her abilities because she wouldn't dare hurt anyone who is purely innocent. Hell, she put herself into a coma before she let herself hurt anyone."
