The wings connected to Soot's back flapped harder and faster than they ever had before. Continuously his head would swing back to check on the girl that had just stopped moving entirely. Panic overtook the creature and he dove down from the blackening sky above.
Desperate cries left Soot's beak frantically, one after the other on a constant loop. Eventually, he managed to grab the attention of those who reside inside the burrow during this lovely beginning of summer night.
And all though it had been lovely the entire scene was about to change and life would be at risk. One who hadn't got to live the life she was meant to.
One who was still just a kid.
From the ground outside of the burrow, a single head of long red hair walked out and looked to the sky. Confusion spread across the persons face until Soot landed on the ground and trotted quickly to the girl whose eyes widened in fright.
"Mom!" Ginny shrieked in fright at the sight of Kennedy whose face was as pale as the moon that had begun to float to its proper position.
Inside the woman stood quickly from the couch she had been sitting on next to Bill and Charlie. Swiftly she exit her home and ran to Ginny's side until she realized there was a large creature afoot. A yelp came from her mouth as she watched the creature bring its head to it's to its back before slowly edging his head back toward them, though this time it had something in its grasp.
A shocked expression came to Molly's face as a hand slapped over her mouth.
"Arthur! Get the medkit!" The woman yelled and soon she called to Bill in a hurry to come out.
In Soot's jaw, he carefully help the back of Kennedy's shirt while he lowered her gently to the ground. Unmoving and covered in blood the girls limp body molded to the earth beneath her, like she was meant to be there and only there.
Bill's frantic footsteps were heard as he round the corner, wand raised high in the air. His worried expression immediately turned serious as he saw the mangled girl at the foot of the large beast standing in front of him and his family.
The ma was about to flick his wand when a hand grabbed his wrist firmly. Bill's eyes flicked to the hand and then to his brother grasping him.
"Don't," Charlie whispered. "That's Soot, he brought her back. He's safe. She wouldn't want you to do this."
Bill said nothing as he moved quickly to sweep Kennedy from the ground gently into his caring arms. As he carried the girl quickly into the house with Molly and Ginny behind him Charlie watched them leave, and then looked up to the creature whose thin pupils remained attached to the door. Carefully walking backward with his eyes on the animal the man swirled around and ran into the house, knowing full well this would be all hands on deck.
"Put her on the couch!" Molly shrieked. "And call a doctor!"
"Kennedy?" Ron gaped as he shot from the chair he was sitting on.
"Molly dear, what's going on-" Arthur mumbled as he carried in a box full of medical supplies of all different kinds.
His question was cut short as he saw the panic on his familys face, and that was when his eyes turned to the couch to see a girl he felt as though was his daughter. Immediately he ran to his wife's side and broke open the box of tools while Bill took Ron by the arm to the kitchen to fill bowls of warm water as quickly as they could.
"Ginny, call a doctor, your father and I are busy," Molly instruct Ginny who immediately ran into a distant room with tears running down her face. "And call your brothers!"
