Harry and Maisie stuck close together as they wondered aimlessly through the large set of underground tunnels beneath the school. Maisie made sure to stay in front of Harry, though she did let him tug her in the directions he knew to go.
Maisie was bewildered at how Harry had been navigating the tunnels, but she didn't dare question him.
Along the way they seemed to pass many bones as well as chunks of old snake skin. The two had begun to wonder just how big this Basilisk had been. Though these thoughts had quickly been swept away when they wondered into a large room where Ginny lay in the center.
The floor was covered in water and there seemed to be nothing decorating the room except for a large stone face at the very end.
"Harry! Look." Maisie said as she point to the Weasley girl that lay still. Harry and Maisie sprint to the girl and as Harry fell to his knees Maisie spun around when she heard the sound of water swishing behind her.
"Ginny Ginny! Oh, Ginny, please don't be dead. Wake up. Please, wake up!" Harry begged as he dropped his wand.
A tall brown haired man wearing Slytherin robes appeared in front of them, his hair gelled to the side.
"She won't wake." The man state which made Harry's head shoot up.
"Tom... Tom Riddle! What do you mean, she won't wake? She's not?"
"She's still alive, but only just." He mumbled as he stared at Ginny's dying figure.
"Are you a ghost?" Maisie asked since he seemed to be fairly pale. The mans gaze drift to her as his eyes danced across her before smirking lightly.
"A memory, preserved in a diary for fifty years." Tom replied with a few steps forward.
"She's cold as ice." Harry said as he stared to Maisie who knelt down beside the small girl.
"Ginny, please don't be dead. Wake your tiny arse up! Kennedy will murder me if I let you die." Maisie begged as her heart hammered within her chest.
She could practically feel her heart thudding in her toes.
"You've got to help us, Tom. There's a basilisk." Harry frantically state as he looked around the room.
"It won't come until it's called." Tom said as he grabbed Harry's wand from the floor which instantly made Maisie put her hand on her own.
"Give him his wand, Tom." Maisie carefully state.
"Neither of you will be needing it. Expelliarmus!" Tom said as he flicked Harry's wand which made Maisie's fly from her hand and land across the room.
"Harry we need to go-"
"Listen, we've got to save her!" Harry yelled which made Maisie let a shaky sigh slip from her mouth.
"I'm afraid I can't do that, Harry. You see as poor Ginny grows weaker, I grow stronger. Yes, it was Ginny Weasley who opened the Chamber of Secrets." Tom said with a smirk that would've swept Maisie off her feet if she hadn't already been petrified of the man before her.
Hearing the man speak of Ginny in such a way made Maisie shake her head as she remembered everything Kennedy had told her about the girl.
"No... she wouldn't!" She state to Tom who chuckled.
"It was Ginny who set the basilisk on the Mudbloods and Filchs cat. it was Ginny who wrote the threatening messages on the walls."
"But Kennedy isn't a muggleborn!" Maisie yelled back which made the man roll his eyes.
