Chapter 21

I kept crying and he held me tight.

"Mer we can get you checked tomorrow" he said

I kept crying into his chest and he put his hands in my hair. I ended up crying myself to sleep. I woke up in the morning and Derek was watching me. He wiped the tears from my eyes

"How long have you been up" I asked

"All night" he said groggy

"What" I questioned

"I was overthinking" he whispered

I got up from the bed.

"Get some sleep" I said before going into the bathroom

I took a shower to wash everything off of me. I washed my hair and body. I walked out of the shower and dried myself off. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. I walked out of the bathroom and Derek was sound asleep. I smiled and walked over to him. I pulled the blanket over his body and walked out of the room. I shut the door. I walked downstairs and attempted to make eggs. I made some and ate it. They were bad, but I was hungry. Derek finally came down and I gave him the plate. He took a bite.

"I- um" he said and I gave him a death stare

"Eat" I demanded

He jumped a little

"Yes ma'am" he said eating all of his eggs.

We ate and drove to the hospital. We changed into our scrubs. I walked in and found arizona.

"Arizona could I get you to do a check for me" I asked

She was shocked a little bit

"Of course" she smiled

I paged Derek and I walked into a private OB room with Arizona. I changed into my gown, that went over my legs, and got onto the table. Derek came in and Arizona looked at him.

"Oh wow. Plot twist" she laughed

Derek laughed and went over to me.

"You know" Derek laughed

"And it's still surprising every time" she smiled

I needed to know

"I have to know something" I said

"What is it" she asked

"I need to know if this baby's Dereks because that day I can in-" I stopped and started tearing up

"After those men raped me" I said

"Ok first I will do an ultrasound" she said

I nodded and she took the gel. She squirted it on my stomach. She took the wand and started looking for the baby. Derek held my hand and we watched the screen. We heard the baby's heartbeat.

"No. It's Dereks" she smiled

"What. How do you know" I asked

"This baby's 13 weeks. Not 10 because it happened 10 weeks ago right" she asked

"Yes" I said

"It's Dereks. You don't need to worry about a thing" she smiled

"Thank you" I sighed leaning my head back

"I owe you everything" I said to her.

She wiped the gel off and left. I looked at Derek and hit his stomach

"Ow" he said

"You had me worried for nothing" I said

"Mer I told you I haven't done ultrasounds on a pregnant woman since my residency" he said

"And this was a big thing to get mixed up" I said

"Sorry" he said leaning down to kiss me.

I put my finger on his lips and stopped him. I got off the table and put my panties on along with my scrub pants. I put my lab coat on. I walked over to Derek and he blocked the door

"What are you doing" I said

"I'm not moving until you kiss me" he said closing his eyes and puckering his lips

"Are you kidding" I said

"No" he whispered

I scoffed at him and leaned up. I kissed his lips and he put his hand on my back. He pushed me up to him more and I put my tongue into his mouth. I put back out of breath.

"Now you can move" I said rolling my eyes

He laughed and moved out of the way. I walked through the door and walked to the ER. I waited on cases.

"Dr. Grey we need you" a nurse said

I ran into the room. A little boy was having a seizure and a nurse gave him gabapentin. I looked over his charts really quick and went to check his eyes. They were okay for now. He was 7 and his parents just walked back in.

"What happened" his mom asked

"He had a seizure" I said to her

"Page Dr. Shepherd" I said to the nurse.

"Where does it hurt" I asked the kid

He pointed to his side and I pushed a little. He winced.

"What's going on" Derek asked

"He had a seizure" I said to him as a nurse handed me his scans

I handed them to Derek.

"Ok we will take you down for surgery in a couple minutes" he said smiling to the kid

We walked out.

"This tumor is massive" he said

"I know" I said looking at the scan

Derek put them back into the patients files. The kid was being prepped as a nurse got OR 3 for us. Derek put his hand on my stomach and rubbed it.

"What are you doing" I whispered

"Sorry" he said taking his hand off

The baby started going crazy inside of me. I took Dereks hand and he looked at me weird. I put it back on my stomach. He held it there until the patient was prepped. We took him to the OR and scrubbed in. The kid was out from the anesthesia. Derek got started immediately. I started cutting the kids side and got the bone fragments out that were all over. He was in a play at school and fell off the stage. I got all the bones out and Derek was still working. I stitched the kid up. The surgery was 7 hours and successful. Derek and I were scrubbing out. We walked out of the OR and went to change clothes. We walked out of the locker room and I put my hand on Dereks. I intertwined our fingers and we walked out of the hospital like that. I got into my car and he got into his. I drove home. I walked inside and went upstairs. I was so exhausted. The pregnancy mixed with surgery, exhausting. I went straight to sleep.
