Chapter 69

I kept wincing in pain. This hurt so bad. I blacked out again. I woke up in a bed being rushed into the hospital. I looked up and saw Bailey crying. I grabbed her arm and she looked down. She wiped her tears. I started crying from the pain.

"I'm sorry" she said holding my hand

We rushed to the OR. I went in and they immediately put me under. I woke up in so much pain. My stomach hurt so bad. I looked around and I was in a patient bed. I had a gown on that covered my body. I started tearing up and saw a nurse was checking my stats.

"Did my baby make it" I cried

"Dr. Grey" she said trying to calm me down

I couldn't stop breathing heavily. She put an oxygen mask onto me and held it. I started sucking in

"Your little girl is in the nicu right now. She's hanging in there" she smiled

She's a girl. Another one. Nova's going to be so happy. I know that Derek wanted a boy, but I know he'll love her. I kept crying. I took the mask off.

"What happened to me" I asked

"You had a placental abruption and the baby couldn't stay in there longer. She didn't want to wait to see you" she laughed

"Can I see her" I asked

"She's a premi so I think it'll be awhile" she said

"Where's my husband" I said

"He's not here yet" she said

He missed this. He's going to be devastated. She left and I grabbed my phone. I could barely move. There were stitches all along my abdomen. I started calling Derek. He wouldn't answer. He was probably still on the plane. I was so tired from all of this. I was really lonely too. I tried to relax. I fell asleep and woke up to my phone vibrating. I answered it

"Hello" I said

"Meredith I'm so glad to here your voice" he said

"Why aren't you here" I asked looking at the time

It was 12 midnight

"I couldn't get a flight till later. I'm on it right now but it took awhile to get it. I'm so sorry" he said

I could tell he was starting to cry

"What's going on with you and the baby. Did the baby make it?" He asked

"Yes she's fine" I said tearing up

"A little girl" he cried

"Yeah. They won't let me see her" I cried

"You're so strong Mer" he said

"I know" I cried

"I can't believe I wasn't there" he said

"Me too" I said

"Before I left, I put in my resignation- I" he said and I cut him off

"You didn't have to do that" I said

"No, I did. I should've been here and I should've moved back a long time ago" he said

"Thank you" I said

"Please don't thank me. I've been terrible to you" he said

"Look I'll be there in about 2 hours. I can't wait to see you and our little girl. You better be still okay by the time I get there" he laughed

"I'll try, but I can't make any promises" I said trying to laugh but winced

I hung the phone up and went back to sleep. I started having a really good dream. I heard the door open and i opened my eyes. He walked in. Nova ran into the room.
