Chapter 30

I woke up at 8am. Derek and I were going back to work in 3 days. I had an OB appointment today at 9. I got dressed and went downstairs

"You coming" I asked to Derek who was in the office room

He looked at me confused then realized

"Oh yeah let's go" he said messing with his paperwork

He got up and came over to me. I grabbed my sweatshirt and put it on. We walked out of the house and got into the car. We drove to the hospital and got out. We walked in and went up to the OB floor. We waited in the waiting room. I felt my leg shaking. Derek put his hand on it

"It's okay" he whispered

I looked at him and he started taking deep breaths with me. I tried to calm myself a little bit

"Grey" the woman at the front desk said

Derek and I got up.

"Room 4" she said

We walked back and went into the room. I grabbed the gown that covered my waist down. I took my pants off and put the gown on. I laid on the exam table.

"Derek I can't" I said tearing up

He took my hand. He put his other hand on my forehead and put a piece of hair behind my ear.

"It's okay. Meredith listen I know you're scared but trust me okay" he smiled

I nodded. He leaned down and kissed my lips.

"I really do love you" he whispered kissing me again.

There was a knock at the door. Someone opened it.

"Hey Meredith" arizona said

"Hi" I said

"Okay so we're going to do just a regular checkup today" she said

I nodded

"This is going to be a little cold" she said sitting down and putting her gloves on

"We are going to do a vaginal ultrasound and a regular one. Are you ready" she asked

I nodded. She turned the ultrasound machine on and placed the tool inside of me. I started shivering because of how cold it is. Derek gripped my hand. We saw the baby on the screen.

"Look at you" I smiled

I saw Derek started smiling

"Do you want to know the sex" she asked

"Yes" Derek said

"Wait no can you write it on an envelope" I said

Derek looked down at me and rolled his eyes. I made a face at him. Arizona pulled the tool out of me and grabbed gel. She squirted it on my stomach and took her wand. We heard the heartbeat.

"Ok got it. I'll write it down" she said wiping the gel away and turning the ultrasound machine off

She left the room.

"I thought we weren't going to wait" he said

"I know, but I can't make my mind up. I want like a little cake or something" I said

"Okay can I look at least" he smiled

"No because I know you'll tell me" I laughed

"True" he laughed

Arizona came back in.

"Here's the envelope and some pictures" she said handing them to me

"Thank you" I said
