Chapter 90

1 week later

Derek went to work today. I got the girls ready. I was taking them to their auntie Cristina's today. It was about 4pm. I brought them to the car and buckled them up. I drove to Cristina's. I got the girls out and we went to her place. She opened the door and Nova ran in to hug her.

"Hey nova" she smiled

"Hwye" she said looking up at her

She let go and left.

"I'm so drinking today" She said

Cristina shut the door

"I just got a new bottle of tequila and I've been waiting for you, but no, you have to go and get pregnant" she smiled

I turned around and looked at her

"Ugh I love you" I smiled

I went over to the coach and laid Gracie down. I put a pillow next to her and put a blanket over her. She fell asleep. Cristina came over with her bottle and some snacks. She put the snacks on the coffee table. I started eating some of the cheese and crackers. Nova came over and sat next to me. I turned on cartoons for her. I gave cheese and crackers to her.

"So did Derek say anything about the ER and why it happened" she asked taking a swig

"He's in there today to do some paper work on it. I have no idea how long they want to close it down for, he doesn't really talk to me about his job. He leaves at any time in the day, comes home, tells me barely anything, then goes to sleep" I said

"Damn. What if he's cheating" she asked

"He's not-" I said and paused

"Look. Owen cheated on me. He acted normal, but we wouldn't have a lot of conversations like that" she said

"He wouldn't cheat" I said

"Well. You should follow him one day, just to be sure" she said

I nodded. We ate and watched tv with Nova. We all ended up falling asleep. I woke up to a phone call. I looked at the window and it was dark. Cristina's head was resting on my shoulder. I picked my phone up and answered it.

"Hello" I said groggily

"Are you alright?" He asked

"Yeah, why" I asked

"Your appointments in an hour" He said

"Oh crap. Sorry I forgot" I whispered

"Do you want me to reschedule" he asked

"No. I can be there in time. I'll see you soon" I said

"Bye, love you" he said

I hung up the phone

"Cristina" I whispered pushing her

"Cristina" I said louder

She finally woke up

"Mmmm" she mumbled

"I have to go" I said

"Ok" she whispered

She laid down on the side of the couch. I started smiling. I grabbed the sleeping girls and left. I brought them to the car and put them in. I got into the front seat and drove to the hospital. I put Gracie into her carrier and held nova around my waist. She put her head onto my shoulder and fell asleep. I brought them into the hospital and went up to Derek's office. I remembered what Cristina said earlier. I didn't knock. I quickly opened the door and he looked up at me. I put Gracie's carrier onto his couch. I put nova next to her and she put her head on the arm rest.
