Chapter 57

3 days later

Mer has been in a coma for 3 days. I've taken nova to her every second of the day. Lexie would stay with her and hold Nova. I walked into Mer's room. Nova was sleeping in daycare. The board has asked me to take a position in a hospital that was in Boston for a year. They said that I had great leadership. I told them yes. I haven't talked to mer because she's been in a coma but I feel like she would say yes, and it would be good for us. The virus is still out there, but there's not a lot of cases in Boston

"Mer when you wake up I really want to talk to you about something exciting. This would be great for us. I got a new position in a Boston hospital. It would be a great start for us. We can get away from all of this. Please wake up soon" I whispered kissing her forehead

I felt her fingers move against mine

"Mer can you hear me" I asked

She started coughing on her tube. I quickly took it out of her mouth. She started opening her eyes and I felt a tear come from mine. I held her hand tightly.

"Derek" she whispered

"Hi sweetie" i whispered kissing her lips.

"What happened" she asked

"You were in a car accident and broke your arm. They did more surgery on your foot because it was stuck, but you're okay now" I smiled wiping my eyes

"So what was that thing about Boston" she asked

"You heard?" I asked

"Yeah" she smiled

"I got offered a new Chief position for a year. They want me to run the thing. I told them that I'd take it because it wouldn't be that long. And they said that they have an amazing resident position for you" I said

"I don't even know if I'd be okay to work" she said lifting her cast up

"You can heal there. I've just always wanted to have a change in medicine and I didn't think it would be a big deal" I said

"Okay I guess we can make it work" she smiled

"Really" I asked

"Yeah. We can try it out" she smiled

1 week later

Meredith's POV

Derek and I packed some of our stuff from our house for Boston. We took our bags to our car. We were going to buy stuff there, all we really brought were clothes and Nova's stuff. I said goodbye to all of my friends last night. I got into the car and Derek came out with Nova. He put her into the car. He got into the drivers seat and we drove our private plane. Someone grabbed our bags and furniture. We brought Nova into the plane. Derek helped me walk because of my ankle. I sat down in the seat and everyone got settled. We started taking off. Derek was holding nova and playing with her. I laid down in the seat and fell asleep.

5 hours later

We arrived in Boston and got off the plane. Someone brought our stuff to his Porsche. Derek and I got in with nova. We left and went to our new apartment. We walked in and brought our stuff. We went upstairs and opened the door. This was a pretty big apartment. We brought our stuff in and left the room. We had to get some more furniture. We went downstairs and went into our car. We drove to a
furniture store and put Nova in her stroller. Derek walked in with her. We started looking at the furniture. We got a couch, bed, a table, chairs, nightstands, dressers, a tv, mirror, plates, and some stuff for Nova and all of the bathrooms. We checked everything out and the owner put them in his truck. We drove back to our apartment and they brought all of our stuff into our apartment. They started building everything. I put the plates, bowls, cups, and silverware up. The guys were in Derek and I's room building stuff. Derek helped me to the couch and put nova next to me. I turned the tv on and started watching. This apartment reminded me so much of when I was little. I knew this wasn't a great decision for me to move back, I did it for Derek because he really wanted this and I didn't want to crush him.
