Ash's POV

"Someone get me some bandages, now! And some clean clothes for her. Go!"

As some of my guys scattered to get the items I requested, I knelt down to the young woman's level. Blood poured freely from her right should, no doubt a bullet wound. She was dressed in all black. As she fell, the handle of the knife she had concealed poked out. I pulled the wooden handle out. The actual blade was only about 5 inches long. But none of that was what worried me. Just before she blacked out, she had muttered the word 'Dino'. Had Dino sent her? Was she escaping Dino? Did he want her? Did he-

"Here boss, the bandages." I was snapped out of my line of thought by one of my guys placing clean white bandages in my hand, and clean clothes by my feet. I thanked him and removed (y/n)'s bloodied hoodie. "Everyone out." Nobody asked questions, they just left, leaving me to sort out the unconscious woman's wound.

The hoodie was discarded, tossed to the side and out of the way. "I'm sorry about this." I found myself whispering to her, as I eased her shirt up and off so I could properly clean and wrap her shoulder. One of the guys had clearly thought ahead. There was a tub of antiseptic and some cloths by my side. I took a cloth and dipped it in the antiseptic and gently rubbing the wound with it. Once that was done, I fully removed her shirt and wrapped the wounded shoulder. Finally, I pulled on the hoodie some one had got over her still unconscious body. It was one of my hoodies. Oh well, I kinda needed her to survive.

(Y/n)'s dead weight hung off me as I carried her to the run down building we used as a base. The rain had stopped, but thunder still roared overhead. All they guys were at the base, most of them asleep but some were still awake, waiting for my return.
"Boss."
"Welcome back boss."
"Boss!"
The ones left awake whisper-shouted as I entered. They quickly realised I was carrying (y/n), and eyed her suspiciously. I simply ignored them, carefully laying her down on a floor mat and covering her with a moth-eaten blanket. Really, we needed to get some new blankets... but that is besides the point. I lay down on her left, about a meter or two between us. I lay on my left, Shorter slept peacefully in front of me and Skip by my feet. I sighed heavily before immediately slipping into sleep.

(Y/n)'s POV

As I slowly regained consciousness, the first thing that hit me was the warmth that surrounded my being. The second thing was the soft smell of aftershave. Not the nasty in your face kind, but a gentle and pleasant one with a slight undertone of sweat. It was nice, comforting even. It had been too long since I last felt safe. I snuggled deeper into the nicely scented warmth, curling into a tight ball. Then I noticed that the 'nicely scented warmth' was moving. Moving up and down in a steady motion.

"Oi, do you mind?" It spoke. I leapt backwards, hands franticly searching for something to use as a weapon. They did find something, a classic revolver. It was loaded. I pointed it directly at the source of the voice, my fingers hovering over the trigger. "Woah, easy there." The voice of the one and only Ash Lynx chuckled, easily twisting my hand and retrieving his firearm. Ash tossed the revolver across the floor as I watched his every move with curiosity and nervousness. I was in no position to fight a gang leader, not with my shoulder as it is. The wound, and the area around it, throbbed painfully. I lifted my left hand to touch it, wincing as the tips of my fingers came into contact with material that covered it.

"I cleaned that for you, you're welcome." Ash sighed, looking me up and down before making eye contact. "Now, what were you going to say before you collapsed? You said 'D-dino-' but never finished. So tell me, what is the end of that sentence?" I swallowed hard, looking down at the floor. "Dino is a sly bastard." I growled, looking back up and staring Ash dead in the eye. "A sly bastard who deserves only to be ripped apart by wild cats." I spat on the floor, my body trembling slightly. Ash smirked a little, falling back onto his floor mat.

"Y'know, I couldn't agree more. A leopard and a lynx huh..." A frown tugged his lips downwards. "That could never work. They'd kill each other before doing anything productive."
"That all depends on the animals willingness to work. Or, in our case, two peoples willingness to be of assistance to one another." Ash looked thoughtful for a second, sitting back up and resting his arm over one leg as he lent forwards. "Was that a proposal for me to work with you?" He lifted an eyebrow. "Yes. You can either accept or decline, i'll leave it to you."
"I have another question."
"Oh? What is it?"
"Are you an assassin, and if so, were you hired to kill me?" I sighed at the straightforwardness. "Yes and yes. However, I was 'sold' to Dino. I was not given a job from him and effectively your assassination was cancelled, as the person who asked for it 'passed me on'. In other words, I am no threat to you."
"Okay." Ash looked at me with suspicion as I snuggled down deeper into the dark red hoodie I was wearing. "Is this your hoodie? You and it smell the same." I muttered, still not coming up from the warm softness of the fabric. "Yeah its mine, but I guess its yours now. And don't say stuff like that, its fricking creepy and weird."
"Oh, okay. I meant it as a compliment though. Its a nice smell." I whispered, feeling my eyelids drift together.
"Whatever." You could hear the eye roll in his voice.
